Now in its fourth year in the U.S. market, Brazilian designer Patricia Bonaldi’s glam boho brand has found a dedicated diva following with Alicia Keys, Chrissy Teigen, Selena Gomez, Mary J. Blige and other celebs wearing it in recent months.

The look: Seventies prairie-meets-Tropicalia nights with embroidered vegan leather separates, folkloric prints, strappy necklines and cutouts from swimwear translated to slinky evening wear, and a commitment to local handcraft taught at a school the designer started in her hometown in Uberlandia, in southeastern Brazil.

Quote of note: “I like to bring old world techniques to modern silhouettes,” said Bonaldi.

Standout pieces: Hand-embroidered pinstripe linen jumper dress with red floral and buckle details; tan vegan suede western fringe jacket and floral-beaded pants; jade silk crepe cutout ruffle-front gown; “Cordel” bird and horse folkloric print cotton poplin puff sleeve blouse and maxi-skirt; pearl cluster embroidered velvet smoking jacket and pants, and black Lurex ribcage cutout gown.

Takeaway: The level of detail — hand-drawn prints, embroidery and beading, even on swimwear — is impressive for the price point, making PatBo a rare bird in the contemporary category.
