PICKING a name for your child is always a challenge. They are, after all, stuck with it for the rest of their life.
Some people want to design their own, others pick something completely unique while some opt to honour a friend or family member.
Well, if you prefer to play it straight and pick a beautiful name, that's reasonably common, you may want to check out the most popular girls' and boys' names of the last year.
The top spots are taken by Olivia (like Newton-John) and Liam (like Gallagher).
The lads' list had a surprise entry of Theodore in the tenth spot, up 13 places since this time last year.
It kicked Alexander off the tenth spot, which is now sitting pretty at number 13.

Nameberry co-creator Pamela Redmond said: "Theodore is a Nameberry favorite but we're surprised it's climbed so high nationally as it's such a buttoned-up, formal name.
"But the friendly short form Theo expands its appeal, much like Alex made Alexander more approachable."

Other names in the top ten included James, William, Noah and Oliver.
Over on the girls' list, Amelia is now up two place to second position, having previously been at number four.

Other names included on the girls' list were Charlottee, Mia and Harper.

The two fastest-falling girl names were Denisse and Denise, despite both being in the biggest risers of 2020.
While Karen, which has been dropping steadily since it's been adopted as a catch-all term for "an entitled and demanding white woman".
The unpopular name has now fallen to number 1091 in the chart.

And Alexa, the name of Amazon's assistant, has now fallen over to 442, where it was previously at number 229,
While for the lads, the fasting falling boys names were; Jaxtyn, Karsyn, and Xzavier – all alternative spellings of other names.
