Brainteaser challenges puzzlers to spot the ten vehicle safety hazards

Can YOU spot the safety hazards? Brainteaser challenges motorists to pick out 10 mistakes that put them at risk from thieves in less than 49 seconds

  • Tricky new puzzle asks the nation nation to find the ten common security risks
  • They’re well hidden in a car park scene, so can you beat the 49 second average?
  • Challenge was created to help raise awareness of popular vehicle safety hazards

With many of us using our car or motorcycles less due to the lockdown, safety measures can become lax and opportunistic thieves may take advantage.

But a tricky new brainteaser has been put together by Carole Nash to test whether you can spot some of the most common security risks people fall foul to when leaving their vehicle unattended.

The average person takes an impressive 49 seconds to find all ten hazards on both the car and the motorcycle – so, can you beat the average?

Scroll down for reveal

A new brainteaser (pictured), created by Carole Nash, challenges puzzlers to find ten common security risks in a cleverly disguised car park scene

Safety and protection are two very important things for motorcycle, car, and classic car owners to consider during lockdown.

With more people at home, car and motorcycle owners could face greater risk as thieves ‘window shop’ for vehicles.

The security risks were suggested by experts who know what thieves target and the steps you can take to ensure you are safe and protected as much as possible.

But with the answers cleverly disguised in a car park scene, the challenging puzzle may be harder than you first think.

If you’re struggling to find the answers, then you can see them above circled in red – including the absence of a lock and broken chain

Absence of Lock

Investing in a disc lock and grip lock is one of the best ways to secure your motorcycle. You can also use a D lock on the front wheel to ensure your bike does not get wheeled away.

Broken Chain

Thieves often steal a bike by breaking the steering lock and wheeling it away. A chain lock through the back wheel is the best way to prevent this (as the front wheel can be removed). Just make sure it is sturdy and doesn’t break easily!

Bike cover has fallen off

Thieves have been known to ‘shop’ for certain models of bikes and using a bike cover can automatically make a motorcycle less attractive.

It can also add another time-consuming barrier to the theft. Ensure your cover is properly secured, especially in windy weather.

Keys left in

This may sound like an obvious one, but you would be surprised at how often this happens!

Always take your keys with you, even if you’re leaving your motorcycle for just a few minutes.

Fuel cap left unlocked / open

Leaving your fuel cap unlocked can make your bike vulnerable to gasoline theft or fuel system vandalism.

Amongst the other answers hidden on the car includes valuables left inside and the soft top left down (pictured)

Valuables left in car

Thieves are opportunistic – many will damage your car and take any valuables left if they can see them, even if they can’t steal the car.

Soft top left down

If you own a convertible, when you leave your car, always make sure the top is down. An easy-to-access car out on the street is an open invitation to thieves. Plus, if you’re parked under a tree or lamp post, birds don’t care how nice your car is…!

Very old, classic car locks (steering lock)

Many classic car owners, especially with their first car, don’t consider getting their locks changed and instead use classic productions like steering locks.

However, steering locks can be easily manipulated by thieves – they’ve been dealing with them for decades!

If you are looking to keep the original parts of your car or just keep the vintage feel of those old keys, there are still ways that you can upgrade your locks.

Consider having an automotive locksmith take a look at your lock and see if there is a way to re-pin (or re-wafer) the cylinder so that it is more secure against theft.

Broken lock / door handle

With older cars, locks and handles can sometimes break from years of wear and tear.

If this happens, get them repaired as soon as possible – thieves can spot them a mile off.

Improper parking

Improper parking can open your car to unwanted attention. Where you keep your classic car is very important – the greater the security, the better you’ll be protected.

And it’s just the latest in a long line of brainteasers sweeping the web in recent weeks – with the eagle-eyed bird catching the worm in another tricky puzzle.

People across the UK are being challenged to find the earthworm hidden among the feathered flock in this baffling brainteaser.

It was created to mark the launch of new website Nest Friends, which helps parents teach children about the variety of birds there are across the UK.

Each British breed has been turned into a bright, bold character with simplified markings to enable children to easily identify them – but that doesn’t make it any easier to find the pesky worm.

On average it takes users 30 seconds to find the invertebrate – so, can you beat the record?

This brainteaser has been created to mark the launch of a new website Nest Friends, it challenges players to spot the worm in the birds

Rick Oliver, 35, from Kings Hill in Kent, came up with the idea for the website at the start of lockdown.

He said: ‘Nest Friends is a fun, educational online resource for parents of young children to help them learn about the birds they may see in their gardens, on walks, or out of the window.

‘I created it as a way of keeping young children entertained during the lockdown measures that have been put in place.’

If you’re struggling to find the worm, cast your eyes to the left-hand side of the picture.

Still haven’t managed to spot it? Take a look at the blue and white dotted bird almost halfway down the puzzle.

Still haven’t managed to find the worm? Take a look at the blue and white dotted bird to the centre left of the image – the worm is perched underneath it

Another tricky brainteaser challenges players to spot the names of 18 brands in the mind-muddling image below.

The say-what-you-see puzzle, created by British online training provider High Speed Training, shows a graphic packed with businesses, all of which were started from home.

Most people have only been able to spot 11 so-called ‘home-preneur’ businesses – so can you beat the record?

Scroll down for reveal

This say-what-you-see puzzle is packed with the names of 18 differences but most people can only identify 11. How well will you fare?

The names of the businesses are all concealed as clever visual clues – and some are easier to decipher than others.

Players will need lateral thinking in order to guess them all, so spend time over them before you guess.

For those struggling to name all 18, you can find the answers circled in the graphic above (pictured)

How many brands did you identify?

1) Tangle Teezer

2) Card Factory

3) Cambridge Satchel Company

4) Trunki

5) Under Armour

6) I Saw it First

7) Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Sauce

8) Amstrad

9) Amazon

10) Apple

11) Mattel

12) Dell

13) Innocent Drinks

14) Cards against humanity

15) Airbnb

16) Yankee Candles

17) Patak

18) Deliveroo

Another challenging new seek-and-find puzzle is tasking players with finding the tiny bee among the meadow of flowers.

The baffling brainteaser shows three different coloured flowers with one small bee hiding somewhere in the picture and was created by ethical online florist Arena Flowers.

But while many will struggle to solve the difficult brainteaser, could you be the one to set a new record?

 Scroll down for reveal

Arena Flowers has created a floral themed brainteaser which tasks puzzlers to find the bee amongst the flowers

The challenging graphic was graphic to mark World Bee Day, which will be celebrated on May 20.

Take a very close look at this field of flowers and try and figure out just where the small bee is hiding.

Finding it tough? Try looking at the middle of each flower to see if anything is blending into the background.

If you still haven’t managed to find the bee, try taking a closer look  to the bottom left hand corner of the graphic.

The bee is hiding blended into the middle of one of the flowers on the bottom left hand side of the image

Another taxing puzzle challenges players to find the only dog with a diamond ring on its collar.

The brainteaser, created by British jewellery manufacturer Purely Diamonds, shows dozens of dogs jumping, running and digging in delight.

But just one of the pups has a precious jewel hanging from a loop on its collar. Can you work out which one it is?

Scroll down for reveal

Purely Diamonds has put together a new doggy themed brainteaser that features a hidden engagement ring hanging from one of the pup’s collars

It comes after research revealed 1 in 10 pet owners now give their precious dogs or cats a central role in their wedding day – with some even trusted to carry the wedding rings down the aisle.

Take a close look and see if you can find the only dog trusted with the responsibility in this busy scene.

If you’re struggling to solve the brainteaser, try looking at the middle of each collar for one which is slightly longer.

Still not having any luck? The dog is to the right of the centre of the image.

The dog wearing a diamond ring on his collar (circled)  is located in the middle right of the picture

Even the most eagle-eyed puzzlers would have struggled to spot the dog wearing the ring

Another new brainteaser challenges players to spot the crayon hidden among a floral wallpaper design.

The baffling puzzle, created by British company Plumbs, is designed to stump even those who frequently play games.

The tricky quiz can perplex even the most eagle-eyed of puzzlers.

If you’re struggling to solve the puzzle, try looking at the branches of each flower for one that looks slightly different.

And seeing as there’s no record for the quickest puzzler currently set, that means you could be the one to get the fastest time.

A green crayon is hidden among the branches of a flower towards the top right of the image

Another new brainteaser has challenged the nation to see how well they really know the Nineties.

Reflect Digital has created a say-what-you see graphic in which people are tasked with naming 50 cultural references from the 90s based on visual clues.

So do you think you know everything about the era? Well, then there’s really no excuse not to get full marks.

But be warned – the current record stands at 12 minutes, so you’d better get your thinking cap on!

Scroll down for reveal

A new say-what-you-see brainteaser (pictured), created by Reflect Digital, challenges people to name the 50 popular things associated with the Nineties

Becky Simms, CEO at Reflect Digital, commented: ‘Our latest game was inspired by a lockdown induced clearout of one of our creative team’s lofts.

‘In the loft, they found a box of Nineties memorabilia and it started their creative mind whirring that wouldn’t it be great to test the nation’s knowledge of the Nineties, an era that many hold so dear.

‘So that was it, challenge set, we wanted to create the hardest Nineties quiz out there, to help entertain the UK whilst staying indoors for the good of the country.’

If you’ve reached your max, then the answers are as follows: East 17, Blur, The Queen’s Nose, Paper Boy, Dream Phone, Walkman, Half Life, SouthPark, Oasis, Friends, Doomy, Steps, Gladiators, Cow & Chicken, Furby, Power Rangers, Spice Girls, Space Jam, Myst, Captain Plant, Mighty Max, Sister Sister, Pulp, Art Attack, Big Breakfast.

And the most eagle-eyed would also have spotted: The Lion King, Gamesmaster, Salt-N-Pepa, Saved by the Bell, Clueless, Teletubbies, Green Claws, Beanie Baby.

Sooty, Woof, Goldeneye, Lemmings, Rugrats, Funhouse, Goosebumps, Bernard’s Watch, Polly Pocket, Snake, Wolves, Witches and Giants, Dinosaurs, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Worms, Gameboy, Doug and The Demon Headmaster.

For those struggling to name all 50, you can find the answers labelled in the graphic above (pictured)

Sky broadband boost: confirmation that your internet speeds may soon get much faster

Sky broadband users may soon find their downloads arrive at a much more rapid rate. That’s because the company has started to test an all-new fibre broadband service that it claims will make internet speeds faster and more reliable. It was recently rumoured that Sky would begin rolling out its full-fibre (FTTP) packages sometime this month… and that now appears to becoming a reality.

According to ISPreview, Sky is starting trials of this new broadband network, which uses next-generation fibre cables compared to the older copper cabling some if its customers currently rely on. Starting these test is a good sign that Sky is close to rolling out its faster internet service soon.

Until now, Sky was only able to offer its best speeds via a hybrid fibre connection called Although this technology is quicker than ageing copper cables, it still can’t quite match full fibre in living rooms.

ISPreview says only a handful of homes are currently getting access to Sky’s new service but hopefully this initial test means a larger rollout is on its way soon.

Although not confirmed, it seems once customers have this Ultrafast upgrade installed, they will be able to downloads movies, files and music at over 285Mbps – that’s around twice as fast as Sky’s current top speed and five times quicker than the UK average.

  • BT v Sky v Virgin Media: Which broadband is really best for you?

With a 285Mbps connection, you’d be able to download a full HD film in under three minutes. Along with being much quicker, there is another bonus with having full fibre as it should help offer a much more reliable connection with speeds not suffering as more people log on and use it.

There’s no word on when homes across the UK will get Sky’s full fibre broadband but the company has confirmed that it is committed to rolling out FTTP in 2020 and that’s still the case.

Although this update from Sky is good, the firm still lags some way behind the likes of BT and Virgin Media. Both of these suppliers have begun rolling out their 1Gbps which is capable of downloading a movie in under a minute.

Virgin’s Gig1 is now available in areas including Southampton, Reading, Greater Manchester and across the West Midland.

BT is offering its Full Fibre 100 in areas including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Leeds, London and Manchester. Prices for these services start from £59.99 for BT customers and £62 if Virgin is your chosen supplier.

The truth about Chris Trousdale and Anna Sundstrand’s relationship

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chris Trousdale. The Dream Street singer died on June 2, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19, according to Us Weekly. Trousdale died in a hospital in Burbank, California.

Trousdale, who was an actor and a musician, was known for being one of the five members of the boy band, alongside Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger, Jesse McCartney, and Frankie Galasso. They hit it big in the early 2000s but the band ended up dissolving after their parents sued the two individuals responsible for forming Dream Street, Louis Baldonieri and Brian Lukow. According to the Daily Mail, the parents claimed that their sons were “exposed to booze, women, and pornography.” They ended up winning the case, releasing the five band members from their contracts.

After Trousdale parted ways from Dream Street, he ended up working on several other projects. He collaborated with the Swedish girl group Play and was a featured star in their single “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me.” When Play parted ways, Trousdale ended up working on several collaborations with one of its members, Anna Sundstrand. They were totally adorable together and many people wondered if they were a couple. Keep reading to find out if these speculations were correct.

Chris Trousdale had an 'explosively charming personality'

When eulogizing his friend and former band member, Jesse McCartney said of Chris Trousdale on Instagram: “It pains me to say that an old friend, Chris Trousdale, from my early days in the music industry has passed away due to complications from COVID-19. Chris had an explosively charming personality with boundless amounts of talent.”

With such a powerful level of charm, many have wondered if Trousdale ever had a romantic connection with singer Anna Sundstrand. It’s a fair question, because they collaborated on many songs together, most notably the dreamy hit “If Only.” They performed often on stage together, even offering a sweaty version of Grease’s “You’re the One That I Want” in 2006.

While Sundstrand and Trousdale frequently performed together and worked on music together, there has never been any substantial evidence that they dated. In fact, according to MTV, Sundstrand and Trousdale were longtime friends. After she left Play, Sundstrand took up modelling with New York’s Model Management Group circa 2005. She later wrote a book, according to MTV, about her time as a child star in the music industry, which is available in Sweden, according to her Instagram.

This must be devastating news for Sundstrand that Trousdale has passed and so we wish her our condolences.

Daily horoscope for June 4: YOUR star sign reading, astrology and zodiac forecast

The Moon has entered Sagitarrius today after drifting through the grounded energies of Virgo at the start of the week. Sagittarius is a sign of fire, associated with generosity, humour and idealism. People born with Sagitarrius’ influence in their horoscope are said to favour freedom and the outdoors but can suffer from impatience from time to time.

But the good news is Sagittarius and Gemini are typically well paired together.

Gemini the Twins is a mutable air sign, representative of affection, curiosity and adaptability.

Today, feel the two celestial bodies mingle with Mars in the sign of Pisces.

The three bodies form a T-Square, with the Moon and Sun opposite one another and Mars in Pisces at a 90-degree down the middle.

  • Mercury retrograde: What is mercury retrograde and when is it?

According to astrologer Debra Silverman of Debra Silverman Astrology, there is one more player to look out for today – Virgo the Maiden.

The astrologer said: “This is so funny. First of all, let’s start with the Full Moon.

“Energy’s building, Gemini-Sag – our President was born with this – a very wild energy, very uninhibited, says exactly what they think, doesn’t have an off button, childlike fun, playful.

“Be careful cause the mind can go off.”

You can change on a dime, you don’t really have that same point of view

And with Mars in Pisces, three mutable signs are holding sway.

Mutable signs are typically associated with adaptability and flexibility.

Perhaps the cosmos will ask of you today to find a compromise or adapt to a rapidly shifting situation.

But at its best, Ms Silverman said it can influence a lot of creativity.

Use that power of change to come up with new ideas and to stay one step ahead of the game.

Perhaps you will have to come up today with a rapid solution to a new problem.

That is where the influence of the mutable signs will come into effect.

Ms Silverman said: “The release of everything, however, is Virgo, which is mutable, and this means we need a list.”

Occidental Petroleum removing workers from Gulf of Mexico plants ahead of storm

Oil demand is picking up but will be muted this summer: Analyst

The Schork Group principal Stephen Schork argues oil demand is picking up but that it is partially due to barrels moving into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Occidental Petroleum Corp is removing non-essential workers from some central Gulf of Mexico facilities ahead of Tropical Storm Cristobal, the company said on Wednesday.

The company’s Gulf of Mexico operations are continuing uninterrupted, the company said.

Other Gulf of Mexico operators, including Chevron Corp, Exxon Mobil Corp, BHP Petroleum and Hess Corp, said on Wednesday they are monitoring the storm but have not evacuated workers so far.

Cristobal made landfall on the coast of Mexico on Wednesday and is moving inland over eastern Mexico, the U.S. National Hurricane Center, said in its latest advisory. The storm is expected to re-emerge over the southern Gulf of Mexico on Friday and move north, threatening the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects the Gulf of Mexico to account for 15% of total U.S. crude oil production in 2020, compared with 23% of total U.S. crude oil production in 2011, as onshore production growth continues to outpace offshore production growth.

Boxer-turned-nurse Clavel to get ESPYS’ Tillman

Boxing champion Kim Clavel, who left the ring to return to nursing during the coronavirus pandemic, will receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service at The ESPYS on June 21.

“It is an honor to receive the Pat Tillman Award on behalf of all the health care workers battling COVID-19 on the frontlines,” said Clavel, a Quebec native. “Just as Pat put his NFL career on hold to serve his country, I felt the same duty to serve my community. Although recently I have pursued my dream of boxing, helping people is my passion and I’m proud to be able to make a difference.”

Clavel, who had compiled an 11-0 record since making her professional debut in December 2017, had taken a leave from nursing in August so she could devote her focus to boxing.

In December, she won the North American Boxing Federation flyweight title with a unanimous decision over Mexico’s Esmeralda Gaona Sagahon. Clavel was scheduled to face Esmeralda Moreno in a non-title fight on March 21, but the fight was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

That’s when Clavel decided to put down her boxing gloves and return to nursing. She has been working as an overnight nurse at retirement and elderly care centers, treating the people most vulnerable to the virus.

“Choosing to return to the front lines of health care amid an unprecedented global pandemic, Kim personifies the spirit of service, duty and selflessness that Pat embodied,” said Marie Tillman, board chair and co-founder of the Pat Tillman Foundation. “In spite of the dangers from COVID and delays to her budding boxing career, Kim chose to focus her energy on those most in need. In Pat’s name, we are honored to present the Tillman Award to Kim for her service and leadership in her healthcare work and throughout this crisis.”

The Pat Tillman Award for Service sponsored by MassMutual has been awarded at The ESPYS since 2014. The award is named after the former Arizona Cardinals star who left the NFL to serve in the military in the aftermath of terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. He was killed in April 2004 while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan.

Conor McGregor vs Anderson Silva would be bigger UFC fight and sell more than Ngannou vs Jones, claims Daniel Cormier – The Sun

UFC legend Daniel Cormier believes a blockbuster bout between Conor McGregor and Anderson Silva would be a bigger fight than Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones.

Rumours are growing the Notorious and the Spider will face off inside the Octagon after the Irishman was called out by the Brazilian on social media.

Silva wrote on Instagram: “I have a huge admiration for the great athlete that Conor is and I believe this super fight would be something historic for the sport, neither of us has anything else to prove.

“I believe UFC and (MMA) fans would like to watch this great martial spectacle, testing my martial skills against him would be fantastic.”

McGregor instantly accepted the offer as he took to Twitter to state he would be willing to fight the 45-year-old up at middleweight, despite having never fought above the 170lb welterweight limit.

Silva – who has been named by SunSport as the third best UFC fighter in history – has lost six out of his last eight fight inside the Octagon.

But Cormier believes the ex-middleweight champion and McGregor can still receive more pay-per-view buys than a mega bout between Ngannou and Jones.

Speaking on the DC & Helwani show about the proposed encounter, he said: "It’s funky of course because Anderson has been so big for so long.

"But, hey if that’s where he (McGregor) would have to go to get a big fight, and it would be a big fight.

"It's a bigger fight than Ngannou vs Jones. Not competitively, or it doesn't look competitively on paper but when you put that name, Anderson Silva across from Conor McGregor, that fight is going to sell more pay-per-views than Ngannou vs Jones."

Cormier then stated that McGregor – linked with fights against the likes of Justin Gaethje, Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov – should only fight Silva if it allows him to challenge for a world title again.

He added: "If there is nobody else for Conor to fight, yeah I'd watch it. I'd absolutely watch it. If everybody else is matched up, why not?

"Here's the deal, people all want to have a problem with everything. First off, Conor vs Khabib, he doesn't deserve a title fight he needs to fight Justin [Gaethje].

"Okay, [then it is] don't let him fight Justin because Justin deserves a title fight. So now he is on the outside of 155, sure.

"He wants to go to 170, oh he doesn't deserve a title fight against Usman. We don't want to see him fight Masvidal because it's a bad match-up and Masvidal needs to fight Usman.

"Okay, so he is out. Diaz? Oh, no we are not interested in the Diaz fight, so he is on an island he is out. Let him fight Anderson Silva, why does it matter?

"If everybody has a problem with everything and you don’t want him in a meaningful fight, you don’t think he has done enough to re-earn a title fight, let him fight Anderson Silva. That’s fine, I’ll watch it 100 percent."
