Amanda Holden speaks out on replacing Holly Willoughby after star quits ITV show

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, 49, has said she would love to be chosen as the new team captain on Celebrity Juice, but insisted timing could be an issue for her. Holly Willoughby, 39, announced she had stepped down from the show after 12 years last week.

On potentially stepping in Holly’s shoes, she said: “I would love it, but it is hard work because they film for blinking hours.

“I remember when I filled in for Holly, I was like, ‘Yeah! I’ll come and do that’.

“But obviously I do Heart Breakfast, which I get up for at 5.30am, they film it over in Elstree and I’m not joking, it takes about four hours and they don’t finish until really late.

“So I would say yes, I’d love to, but it takes too long!”

The talent judge went on to say she doesn’t believe she’d be “as funny” as other potential replacements as she’s “up for anything”.

She added to the Huffington Post: “I know Holly is not goodie-goodie by any means, but that’s what she plays, and I always think it’s better to watch someone who is straighter doing things out of their comfort zone.

“Everyone knows I’m up for anything, so it’s not as funny.“

Holly announced she had left the show after 12 years in a statement on Instagram last weekend.

She praised the team for their support and told fans her replacement would be “lucky” to get the job.

The presenter’s Celebrity Juice replacement is yet to be revealed ahead of the new series this Autumn.

Names in the mix include Emily Atack and Kelly Brook.

Michelle Keegan was also a favourite to replace the star, but she recently denied she is joining the team.

Last year, Fearne Cotton also quit her role as a team captain on the show.

At the time, host Keith Lemon said he asked Kylie Minogue to join the team, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

He said: “I reached out to Kylie a few times, she said she would think about it which is showbiz for no chance.”

Ahead of Holly leaving, he added: “I guess if Holly left maybe I’d try it with someone else to see if it worked, got to keep going I guess.”

Meanwhile, Amanda has been giving fans an insight into her lockdown antics at home with her husband Chris Hughes and their two daughters Hollie and Alexa.
