Corrie fans floored by Amanda Barries age as she nears big birthday

Amanda Barrie says there was ‘no camp’ at Coronation Street

Amanda Barrie has shocked fans who have learned that the Coronation Street actress will celebrate her 90th birthday in three years.

Amanda is auctioning off a number of things including some iconic Coronation Street memorabilia.

Announcing the sale on social media, Amanda said: “Now, who might want my Corrie Cobble?

“Or my other memorabilia, for which as I approach 90, I am now seeking a loving home.”

Fans were floored to learn that the star is approaching 90.

While not quite 90 yet, Amanda will celebrate her 88th birthday this coming September.

She played Alma Halliwell on the ITV soap from 1988 to 2001.

In her auction, Amanda is selling a stack of Polaroid snaps from her time on the soap.

The lot description says that the continuity shots include “photos of various actors in different costumes including Ken Barlow, Deidre Barlow, Jack Duckworth, Emily Bishop”.

Also on offer is Amanda’s very own Corrie Cobble.

The chunk of the street was given to the actress by a prop coordinator.

A letter is included in the auction lot, which reads: “A rare Corrie Cobble, the only one I know ever to have escaped from the original Street.

“Given to me in 1991 by Vinnie the prop man, when an accessibility ramp was built and they couldn’t fit it back in!

“Been in my possession ever since.”

With an estimate of £100, the cobble is being sold tomorrow at Ryedale Auctioneers in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorks.

There are more than 50 lots from the Amanda Barrie collection through Ryedale auctioneers.

The actress hopes keen fans and bidders will take a fancy to other lots including the MG MGB roadster 1972 car she has owned for 41 years.

The vehicle, in Aston Martin blue, has an estimate of £7,000 to £8,000.

She is also selling a range of Victorian furniture with lighting, kitchenware and even a fire surround for sale.

Amanda bowed out of the much-loved ITV soap in 2001 when her character Alma was killed as part of a cervical cancer storyline.

Afterwards, Amanda admitted that she didn’t like the plot “one bit” and felt “extremely anxious” about it.
