The Royal Family said adieu to frilly collars and lace petticoats a long time ago.
In fact, the fashion world has often been inspired and mesmerised by the royals' wardrobes – think Diana's black revenge dress and that iconic sweater/running shorts combo.
Even Queen Elizabeth has never shied away from donning bright two pieces and jazzy dresses during nearly 70 years on the throne. No wonder she was once spotted next to Anna Wintour on the front row of London Fashion Week.
And of course there's Kate Middleton, whose style has created its own zeitgeist dubbed 'The Kate Effect'.
The Duchess of Cambridge seems to always effortlessly look on trend and can work an elegant gown as well as she can a tailored pea coat.
There's even a website called 'What Kate Wore' for those wanting to replicate her wardrobe, and reports say 'The Kate Effect' may be worth a staggering £1billion to the UK fashion industry.

And of course, we can't mention fashion without talking about Meghan Markle. Even though the Duchess of Sussex swapped her royal duties for the LA lifestyle, her outfits will remain influential.
When Meghan said she loved "cropped pants in vegan leather," Google searches for the garment skyrocketed 67 percent and high-street dupes of the trouser were selling out.
Last year, Meghan took the world by storm when she stepped out to attend the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala in New York, accompanied by a suave-looking Prince Harry.
She wore a Carolina Herrera gown in a lavish red, with a plunging neckline and thigh-high split. It's safe to say the dress broke all of the royal protocols surrounding modesty.
