Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez discuss third anniversary

Gemma Atkinson, 36, and Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, 30, met on the BBC show back in 2017 and later confirmed they were dating on Valentine’s Day the following year. The pair, who share one-year-old daughter Mia together, will be celebrating their third anniversary together on Friday.

Discussing the occasion today, Gorka jokingly said he felt like the pair had been together for 30 years instead of three.

The radio host then told host Steph McGovern, 38, they had planned to go away to celebrate, but can’t due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

She explained: “We said like everyone did, ‘By February we will all be back to normal’.

“So, we booked babysitters, a hotel and everything and clearly that’s not gonna happen, but we’ve got TV shows and we’ve got nice meals.

“Gorka is a fab cook, he can cook a meal.”

He chimed in, adding the pair hadn’t yet decided whether they wanted a takeaway or stick to homemade cooking.

The dancer then revealed he had a surprised up his sleeve for his partner.

“I have something planned which I can’t say because that will give it away,” he said.

Stunned at his admission, Gemma asked: “Really?” Does my mum know? Is my mum in on it?”

“Your mum knows everything, she’s my friend,” he added giving a cheeky wink to the camera.

She replied: “Sneaky!”

Ahead of the show, the mother-of-one took to her Instagram story to tell fans about their anniversary and appearance on the show.

She joked: “Gorka has had the pleasure of being with me for three years.

“I’m not going to tell you the look he’s just given me,” she added of her boyfriend who was sat opposite her.

“So snide,” she added.

The pair didn’t dance together on Strictly but are believed to have got close during the nationwide tour.

They respectively made it to the final of the show with their dance partners; Aljaž Škorjanec and Alexandra Burke.

The series was won by Joe McFadden and Katya Jones.

In July 2019, Gemma and Gorka welcomed their first baby together, a daughter named Mia.
