Kate Middleton and Prince William share new photos of Princess Charlotte helping isolated elderly people ahead of fifth birthday

Kate Middleton and Prince William have released new photos of Princess Charlotteto celebrate her fifth birthday on Saturday.

The images, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge herself, show Charlotte helping to deliver packages to pensioners in their local area amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Charlotte, who turns five on May 2, looks adorable in a gingham dress as she smiles for the camera in the sweet photos taken by her mother near their Norfolk family home.

In one image, the sibling of Prince George and Prince Louis is seen packing bags to deliver, before knocking on a door and delivering the items.

The royal couple said in a statement released through Kensington Palace: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share four new photographs of Princess Charlotte ahead of her fifth birthday tomorrow.

“The images were taken by The Duchess as the family helped to pack up and deliver food packages for isolated pensioners in the local area.”

It comes after reports that the princess will have a “fun-filled” birthday, d espite being in lockdown with the family.

The Cambridges have been isolating there since lockdown came into effect, and while they can't see their grandma in person it's believed the Queen will enjoy a video call with her great-grandchild.

The monarch, who just celebrated her 94th birthday, has become quite "tech-savvy" in recent weeks so that she can keep in touch with her extended family.

According to a royal source, Kate and William plan to get her friends on a group video call so they can send her birthday wishes as well as a family call so the Queen can join in the virtual fun.

"They have put together a full plan that will give her all the fun of a birthday – including cake and games – despite the extraordinary circumstances we are faced with," the source told the Sun.

"Her great-grandmother will be joining the family call on the big day. As far as Charlotte is concerned, the important part is that her whole family are by her side to say: ‘Happy Birthday’.

"And you have to realise that she doesn’t know anything different – she’s grown up with tablets and video calls, so she won’t be fazed."
