Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha in tears in family lockdown admission ‘It’s devastating’

Nadia Sawalha, 55, has been a Loose Women regular for two decades, having been one of the original presenters when it first launched in 1999. The small-screen star has since opened up about her family life following the coronavirus outbreak.

Nadia has been holed up at home like much of the UK amid the nationwide lockdown.

The ITV favourite revealed she “ended up in tears” during a recent podcast alongside her husband Mark Adderley.

The couple host a weekly podcast titled Confessions of a Modern Parent where the pair discuss the highs and lows of parenting in a modern world.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Nadia revealed she felt “really upset” during the start of the lockdown due to the impact it would have on teenagers.

Nadia and Mark are parents to their daughters, Kiki-Bee Adderley, 12, and 17-year-old Maddy Adderley.

Speaking about the emotional moment, Nadia explained: “So all of our recent podcasts have been about the quarantine.

“In the first one, I was really upset at the beginning of lockdown as it seemed to me that the vibe was really unsympathetic to teenagers. I thought it was awful.”

She continued: “Because we were like you probably won’t die, or get really ill but we’re just going to change every single thing about your life.”

It comes as the UK Government enforced a nationwide lockdown in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19.

As a result of the lockdown, the British public has been urged to remain indoors and only go out for essential items.

“Imagine that happening to you at 17?” Nadia quizzed. “My daughter is 17, got a new boyfriend, has gigs booked all through the summer.”

The Loose Women panelist explained: “She’s a singer and songwriter and tonight was supposed to be her opening night out. And they snatched it all away. That was quite an emotional podcast and I ended up in tears.”

Nadia said she felt it was “devastating” for young people to have remained indoors and admitted she doesn’t enjoy seeing her daughters being “trapped”.

She said: “I felt so bad. The most difficult thing for me in lockdown for me was seeing the kids trapped.

“Even though they had been brilliant about it. I just don’t know what to do.”

Meanwhile, Nadia has been keeping herself busy during quarantine away from the Loose Women show.
