Still not fully recovered from the death of her dog, Lorde on Tuesday teased the release of her long-awaited album.
Lorde, who was born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, shared the good news in a poetic newsletter she sent to her fans.
“I found a note in my phone from November which said: I eat a grief sandwich / I wear a grief coat / I see a grief film. If you know how it feels to lose someone close, I’m sure that makes sense to you.
Everything about you becomes a grief thing,” Lorde said, referring to her dog Pearl, who died late last year.
Talking about her home country where she was under lockdown for several weeks, Lorde said, “New Zealand is creeping back to normal.
Shops and restaurants are open again. I’ve seen some friends. I feel so grateful for such calm, sensible leadership by our government, now more than ever.”
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter added that the album will take “a while longer” to come out as she is still working on it with her producer Jack Antonoff.
