Matthew Perrys grief-stricken family seen arriving at his home

Matthew Perry’s family arrived at his home in Los Angeles in the hours after his death.

Local police confirmed that they had received a call to attend the actor’s Pacific Palisades property at 4.07pm local time (12.07am UK time) on Saturday, 28 October.

A police source also told Sky News that the incident was being treated as a water rescue, however, a confirmed cause of death is yet to be released.

TMZ and The LA Times have both reported that the Friends star died in a hot tub or Jacuzzi at the age of 54.

Following Matthew’s death, his surviving relatives, including his father John Bennett Perry, 82, and mother Suzanne Perry, 84, have travelled to his Californian residence.

The 17 Again actor’s stepfather Keith Morrison, 76, was also seen attending the property.

On October 15, Matthew took to Instagram to share a final photograph of himself and his father John, with his 8.2 million followers.

In the picture, The Whole Nine Yards actor was seen standing arm-in-arm with the 82-year-old, holding glasses of dark liquid.

Giving context to the image, Matthew wrote in the caption: “Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage.”

Following the news of his death, fans have come out in their droves to deliver their condolences to John and pay tribute to his son.

One Instagram user wrote: “Sorry for your loss sir.”

A second said: “Rest in peace dear Matthew… you made us all very happy. Thank you for that, forever.”

“John and your family so sorry for your loss,” replied another.

A fourth commented: “I’m so sorry father Perry that you had to bury your son. He awaits you in heaven one day. He loves paradise. I’m sorry you have to miss your boy.”

Matthew was arguably best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the famed 1990s sitcom Friends, where he starred alongside Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow.

As well as starring in every episode of the New York-based show across 10 years, the Canadian-American actor has appeared in series such as The Odd Couple, The Good Wife and Mr. Sunshine.

Last year, he released his tell-all autobiography: Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.

In the 272-page book, Matthew got candid regarding his struggles with drugs and alcohol and also detailed his near-death experience in 2019 which saw his colon burst open as a result of his opioid use.

A plethora of famous faces have already come out to pay tribute to the Emmy-nominated star, including Piers Morgan who has called Matthew a “great actor”.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 58-year-old wrote: “RIP Matthew Perry, 54. The Friends star was a great actor, but by his own admission, a very tormented guy.

“His recent autobiography about his addiction-ravaged life was one of the most powerful, honest and revealing I’ve ever read. Such sad news.”

Elsewhere, Selma Blair took to Instagram and shared a selfie of herself alongside Matthew with her 3.2 million followers.

In the caption, she wrote: “My oldest boy friend. All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially.

“Every day. I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”
