Miranda Lambert Shares Throwback Pic With ‘Tiger King’ Joe Exotic

Country singer Miranda Lambert posted a series of pictures of herself standing alongside Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage, the former zoo operator and showman, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison with animal abuse and murder for hire charges, the story behind which has been popularized by the hit Netflix docu-series, “Tiger King.”

“Here’s a little Monday memory for y’all. #TigerKing #WayTooPrettyForPrison,” Lambert wrote alongside the pictures, the comments of which were questioning the circumstances under which she met and apparently befriended the felon.

However, she was quick to share the backstory behind the pictures and explained that MuttNation, the animal welfare organization that she founded, was in need of transport for the many animals that needed to be moved to Oklahoma from Houston, which was suffering from the aftermath of Hurrican Harvey.

“Some guy named Joe volunteered his trailer and staff,” she wrote.
“Now I know it’s ‘Joe Exotic.’ I’ve never been to his zoo and didn’t even know he had tigers. Obviously I’d never condone animals being treated badly.”
