Janey Godley made a post on the social media platform Friday morning as she informed her followers she’d been forced to cancel the remaining dates of her stand-up comedy tour after being taken to the hospital.

Janey wrote: “Sorry but my last weekend of the tour can’t go ahead in Edinburgh and Musselburgh as I am in hospital with ovarian cancer – look after each other #MentalHealthMatters.”

Fans and close friends were quick to send their best wishes to the 60-year-old, including Johnny Vegas, who replied with an endearing yet enthusiastic tweet.

“Hey Darlin’, please come through this,” he said.

“As an idiot living in Glasgow all those years back you took me under your wing and you’ve been minding me ever since. I love, love, love ya. Take care my lovely you x.”

Writer Tim Walker echoed similar words, writing: “Thank you for being you, Janey. A force for good and light and laugher in a world too often bad and dark and joyless. We are all willing you on.”(sic)

Her fans also left their good wishes under Janey’s post, with Rachel Clarke commenting: “I am one of the thousands of people you’ve never met whose life has been enriched by your absolute badass awesomeness.

“I hope the NHS looks after you beautifully and you are home and recovering soon xx.”

Another fan, @supertanskiii, continued: “Janey, mate I’m so sorry that you are unwell. It must be so tough to be going through this. You will get through it. Feel what you need to, until you do though.”

Janey revealed in a separate video on Twitter that she had only learned of her diagnosis a day prior, explaining how several symptoms, including bloating in her stomach, feeling full before eating and having little to “no real energy”.

She urged any of her fans to get screened if they’ve experienced similar signs.

In the clip, the funny woman continued by saying that while her tour had been doing exceptionally well, she was left with no choice but to cancel the forthcoming shows as she was fighting a disease she was completely unaware of until a recent doctor’s visit.

“I just got checked out yesterday and that’s why I’m now in this very beautiful but very stormy corner room hospital in Glasgow,” she added.

The stand-up, who says she’s done nothing but “cry and cry and cry” this past day, hopes to find the inner strength in fighting the disease.

She also praised the NHS for being “fantastic” along with her fans who’ve given her additional support and strength during these challenging times.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be one of those people who battled bravely, who fight every step. I don’t know,” Janey gushed.

“I’m going to use science, I’m going to use technology, and I’m going to try and cope with this next step in the journey.”

The Scottish star had been touring the United Kingdom for the past six weeks, having played her final show at the Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday.

As revealed in her tweet, the dates for her show at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre — which was set to take place tonight — and two more shows at The Brunton in Musselburgh on Saturday have since been cancelled.
