Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud has been going on for a year and a half, the brother’s friend and royal commentator Tom Bradby has revealed.
The 54 year old ITV journalist has been close with both brothers over the years – with Tom travelling with Harry, 36, to Lesotho for a documentary in 2004 and conducting an interview with William, 38, and Kate Middleton in 2010 following their engagement.
But, after cracks in the relationship between The Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex were reported, Harry revealed he and his brother were “on different paths” in a programme presented by Tom where he followed Harry and Meghan Markle’s tour around South Africa.
Speaking in an interview with The Times, Tom has now revealed that brothers William, who recently launched a YouTube channel, and Harry have been feuding for a year and a half.
When quizzed on princes Harry and William’s relationship in the interview, Tom said: “Well, it used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren’t arguing and life was simple.
“And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult – personally and publicly – really over the past year and a half.”
Tom added that the atmosphere between Harry and William is “febrile”, even as they reunited for Prince Philip’s funeral last month – where the siblings were pictured walking and talking together.
Despite his close links to Prince Harry, who is said to have wanted to rock the boat with his Oprah interview, Tom insisted he was not the one who landed ITV the rights to air the chat with Oprah.
Tom added that he is being “a bit self-protective” of what he says about the brothers, after he revealed Harry was “heartbroken” over his fallout earlier this year.
Speaking on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh Tom, who attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, said of Prince Harry: “I think they are content, the things they are doing they are quite excited by.
“I think Harry is heartbroken. You don’t necessarily need to have the knowledge to know that, but I think it is true.”
It comes following reports that Prince William and Prince Charles are planning to “get back to business” without the “distraction” of Meghan and Harry following their Oprah interview.

The senior royals are said to “want to draw a line under Harry and Meghan” who have been a “distraction for the family”, according to royal editor Russell Myers.
The expert added that the Prince of Wales, 72, and Prince William plan too allow Harry and Meghan to “sort things out on their own”.
Speaking to talkRADIO about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, he added: “The rest of the Royal Family are very, very united in trying to get back to business.
We have hardly seen them. They have popped up on Zoom calls here and there.”
The royal expert continued: “But no one has done the real business of monarchy, which is getting out, being among the people and shining a light on different charities, and travelling the world and the Commonwealth.
“It’s part of getting Britain back on its feet. As far as Harry and Meghan are concerned, I think they will be left to try and sort things out on their own.”
