Fashion brands and designers around the world are pitching in to help during the coronavirus pandemic, and one couturier with ties to British royalty is supporting frontline workers in a special way.
According to The Sunday Times, the queen’s royal dressmaker, Stewart Parvin, is designing and producing medical scrubs for some of Britain’s hospital workers. “[I’m] very happy to offer what little help we can to our fabulous NHS,” Parvin, who has designed memorable outfits for the royal for years including her look for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s 2018 wedding and her powder-blue coat dress for this year’s Commonwealth Day, told the outlet.
Parvin’s scrubs are being delivered to Frimley Park Hospital, where a bulk of staff has been repositioned amid the ongoing outbreak. “Our main reason for needing more scrubs is that we have repositioned a lot of our staff to different areas of the hospitals, so to have the extra stock is terrific,” said a Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust representative.
The queen delivered a televised speech earlier this month addressing the pandemic and its effect on the United Kingdom, as well as the rest of the globe. “I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge. And those who come after us will say the Britons of this generation were as strong as any,” said the queen.
