The surprising revelation was made by Richard Madeley’s son Jack, 35, who took to Instagram on Thursday to share a screenshot of the family joking about the incident in a WhatsApp group chat. Supposedly, Chloe had overindulged on the dairy product on Christmas Eve.
As a result, this consequently led to her being taken to a nearby hospital after “going into shock”.
I can’t believe we don’t talk about this more as a family
In the string of messages from her brother, Jack wrote: “CHLOE – remember when you had to go to hospital on like Christmas Eve because you – genuinely – had eaten too much cheese?
“I can’t believe we don’t talk about this more as a family! I haven’t been able to stop laughing for like 10 mins about it. Please tell me I haven’t dreamt this.”
The 35-year-old added: “You had like four wheels of camembert to yourself and went into shock.”
Clearly amused by the recollection of events, Chloe responded: “Hahahaha Yes it happened.”
Her brother Tom seemed somewhat baffled by the conversation since he had no idea such an accident even occurred.
He followed up with: “?? First I’ve heard of it!”
News of Chloe’s rush to the hospital for overeating the dairy product comes just weeks after her dad was forced to pull out of the latest series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after becoming ill during his time in Gwyrch Castle.
Richard was treated outside of the camp, but stepping out of the show’s “Covid bubble” subsequently meant he would forfeit his place on the programme due to strict safety measures that ITV bosses implemented before the show’s start.
Despite his early exit, though, reports claimed that the Good Morning Britain star would still receive his £200,000 salary given that his departure was related to health reasons.
Speaking about her father’s condition in a recent Instagram post, Chloe assured fans that Richard was doing “absolutely fine”.
“We’ve been speaking to him all day and ultimately, he’s just livid he can’t go back into camp because of Covid restrictions,” she continued.
“He did himself proud, though. He worked hard and was his calm, collected, kind and funny self.”
Chloe’s husband, retired rugby player James Haskell, had participated in I’m A Celebrity in 2019, making the family no strangers to competing in BushTucker Trials.
Richard was given tips from his son-in-law before entering the castle on what he could expect during his time in the camp.
But apparently, there were a few vital things he needed to keep in mind.
“The only advice he’s given me is, don’t let the hunger get the better of you and if you’re getting ratty, pipe down, keep your temper. He said that to me.”
After his I’m A Celeb exit, Richard gave a lengthy statement on his official Instagram page to let it be known that even though he was forced to quit, the Essex native was doing “absolutely fine”.
Though Richard seemed gutted to leave, he told fans he’d continue watching his campmates’ journey from the comfort of his home before thanking his fans for their outpouring love and support following his hospitalisation.
“Obviously I’m gutted to be leaving so soon but the safety of all the campmates is the number one priority,” he said.
“I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue…even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.”
