Stacey Solomon was always going to reply to a troll who called her ‘ugly’ with her trademark wit, but her latest clap back might be the best yet.
The Loose Women host shared some of the sweet and supportive comments she’s received from her Instagram followers, who have been entertained, motivated and inspired by her hilarious posts while in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.
But for all the praise there was one particular troll who just can’t let Stacey live and replied ‘so ugly’ to a photo of the TV presenter hugging her son Rex.
Stacey didn’t let the negativity dampen her day though and, in fact, seemed to be having the time of her life.
The 30-year-old replied: ‘Whenever I hear the word ugly it always reminds me of this song…’
Queue the next set of Instagram stories which showed Stace singing along to Sugababes’ single Ugly while carrying out mundane tasks such as peeling potatoes while making boyfriend Joe Swash’s roast dinner.
Alongside a video of her peeling off false eyelashes with a smile, Stacey wrote: ‘But the sugar babes got it right all those years ago… Ugly is a characteristic not a look. Never let anyone make you feel anything less than what you are. BEAUTIFUL [sic].’
Well said, Stace.
Lyrics to Sugababes’ Ugly include: ‘People are all the same, and we only get judged by what we do / My personality reflects me, and if I’m ugly then, so are you.’
Life in lockdown hasn’t always been a barrel of laughs though as Stacey recently revealed how she’s felt increasingly emotional during the lockdown, which isn’t showing any signs of ending just yet.
‘Afternoon nap time,’ Stacey wrote with a photo of 11-month-old Rex sleeping. ‘Hoe’s gone out to get baby milk because we ran out and I’m gonna have to do something because I just feel like I’m on the brink of tears… all the time. I don’t know why I’m laughing [sic].’
She continued: ‘It’s got to be hormones on the moon. But do you ever have one of those days where you feel like your welling up all the time for NO REASON whatsoever?
‘And then you feel terrible for feeling teary when there are so many people in the world in such awful circumstances, so I have no reason to be teary whatsoever.’
