The Filipino vlogger and social media star, who had more than 5.3 million Youtube subscribers and 6.8 million followers on Facebook upon his passing, brought joy to countless fans with his upbeat lifestyle videos since he began posting on YouTube in 2011. The loss was announced by his family on Facebook on Sep. 4, 2020, who did not share the cause of death. Per E! News, the shocking news came just weeks before his 27th birthday.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the untimely demise of our beloved brother Lloyd Cafe Cadena,” their statement read. “May he be remembered for all the joy and laughter he shared with everyone. My family and I ask for your prayers, respect, and privacy during this time.”
According to E! News, Cadena’s last YouTube video was shared in late August 2020 and his last tweet posted on Sept. 2. at 11:11 am. “11:11 Healing for Everyone!” he wrote. Known fondly as “Kween LC” by fans, many of the homages have even quoted his catchphrases, like “Darna” and “Gusto mo yun?” per New York Post. “I lost my bestfriend today,” fellow Youtube star and Filipino Madame Ely tweeted. “Oh my god. Lloyd Cadena was such a joy to watch. Rest in peace,” Filipina actress Maris Racal tweeted.
“Not a lot of you may remember this, but one of the first collabs I ever did was with Lloyd Cadena (he agreed to collab with me when I was literally at less than 10k subs!). Lloyd was one of the funniest, non-toxic, and humble YouTuber I’ve ever met,” a third vlogger, Richard Juan, penned.
