Will Smith has opened up about his public falling out with his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Janet Hubert.

The 52 year old, whose wife Jada recently spoke out about her relationship with August Alsina, took part in an emotional reunion with the star in a special for HBO Max.

Janet, 64, played the original Aunt Viv in the popular American sitcom, but was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid in 1993 after quitting the show due to person circumstances.

The I Am Legend actor and Janet explained that they had some tense moments on set before she quit the show, which lead to their private disputes turning into public knowledge.

Janet called Will an "egomaniac" and blamed him for her ultimate exit from the show as she claimed he used his growing fame to have her pushed out.

In 2018, the 30 Years to Life actress released a video addressing Will and explaining how regretful she was at having taken on the role of Aunt Viv starring opposite him. She said: "I wish you had thought about my family, I wish you had thought about the consequences of your actions."

Almost three decades after their initial falling out happened, the pair came face-to-face and Will later released more clips from the sit-down on a special Red Table Talks takeover episode where he spoke to psychologist Ramani Durvasula.

In the footage, the pair gave each other a warm hug before Janet simply asked Will: "Why? Why so far? I lost so much."

Janet then proceeded to explain how she had been "banished" from the show and "they had told me it was you who banished me because I didn't laugh at your jokes".

She continued: "So much of what you said just destroyed and everywhere I went, everybody just beat me up. We lost our house. I lost everything, reputation, everything. You took all of that away from me with your words. Words can kill.

"Those words, calling a black woman 'difficult' in Hollywood is the kiss of death. And it's hard enough for a dark-skinned black woman in this business."

Will, who Kerry Katona claims told her she has massive boobs, then confessed that he "went too far and said things to people that wouldn't know how to hold that information, and then once you put it in, then the machine grabs it. Then they start putting their own spin on it. It was all way too far on my end."

Janet continued: "I'm so tired of all of this. 30 years of shunning, closure, forgiveness, move forward, stop them from all the chatter, enough. Enough, I've served a 30-year life sentence."

Will then added that he wants to be "someone who protects you [Janet] than someone who unleashes the dogs on you."

They ended the reunion by embracing in a tight hug with Will apologising to Janet, putting their bitter history in the past.
