Asda is selling two tubs of Christmas chocolates including Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street for £7

As the countdown to Christmas begins, Asda has slashed the price of Christmas chocolates.

It's selling two tubs of treats for £7, including favourites such as Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street.

The Celebrations tubs of Mars chocolates in the deal include Snickers, Bounty and Galaxy snacks, weighing in at 650g.

Nestle's Quality Street tins, which come with chocolate toffee, fudge and coconut filled delights, come in the same size.

Heroes, which are packed with crowd pleasers such as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel, Twirl, Wispa, Eclair, Fudge and Creme Egg Twisted, weigh 600g.

A tub of Roses also weighs 600g.

Here’s how to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Money.co.uk about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy  more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards

The deal also includes a fun size Mars Party Mix of treats such as Mars, M&Ms, Skittles Fruits, Milky Way Magic Stars, Twix and Maltesers, alongside a Haribo sweets tub and a Swizzles Sweet Shop Favourites tub.

Swizzles’ tub includes sweet shop classics such as Love Hearts, Double Lollies and Drumsticks.

And s retailers ramp up for Christmas, ASDA isn’t the only one offering sweet deals on Christmas chocolates. Tesco is also well-stocked with bargains.

Tubs of Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street at Tesco will set you back £4 apiece.

Sainsbury’s is also stocking Celebrations which cost at £5. On its online store it doesn’t yet have tubs of Heroes or Quality Street.

Iceland has both Quality Street and Celebrations at £5, so buying at Asda instead of Iceland will give you a £3 saving.

Of course, the cheapest time of year to buy them is actually in January just after Christmas, when supermarkets tend to slash prices to shift excess stock.

Supermarkets tend to dramatically slash prices in a bid to shift stock – last year Tesco reduced the cost to just £2.50.

Christmas may be three months away but stores have already started stocking advent calendars and crackers.

Meanwhile, Greggs has confirmed that it will be bringing back its festive bake in November.

We've rounded up 11 ways you can save £6,000 before Christmas and how to recession-proof your finances.
