Cardi B came through drippin’ on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet Monday night.
The “WAP” rapper ascended the steps of the storied museum wearing a black and white collared ball gown with a black silk tie by Chenpeng Studio.
The hoop skirt of her classy ensemble was adorned with ruching shaped into roses and the quilted bodice was studded with bling.
To complete her look, the “Be Careful” artist rocked elbow-length black gloves and massive pearl statement earrings. She styled her voluminous purple-tinted hair pulled back with a black headband.
Cardi threw fans off by making a complete outfit change from what she wore while exiting The Mark Hotel as she made her way to the gala earlier in the evening.
While heading to the event, she wore a custom Miss Sohee pink sparkly mermaid gown with an over-the-top sculptural tool backing and tons of pearls and was dragged by social media users as being off-theme.
Fans were relieved when she made the surprise outfit change, with many taking to social media to praise the Grammy winner.
“We love a SWITCH!” one person gushed on Instagram.
“so theme i love,” a second wrote.
“Love the drama! Stunning,” a netizen said.
“Damn. I’m shocked,” another added.
Cardi, 30, is always one to watch at the annual fashion fête, having made her Met Gala debut in 2018 while pregnant with her first child with now-husband Offset.

For her major moment, she wore a dazzling Moschino dress and matching headpiece encrusted with pearls and colorful gems — and made even more headlines when a member of her entourage got into a scuffle with an autograph hound.
In 2019, Cardi upgraded to a show-stealing scarlet Thom Browne gown that featured an enormous feather train, a matching hood and even ruby nipples.
Her look was so monumental that Anna Wintour said the stunning appearance changed her view of the star.
“She looked unbelievable … She could barely move, but it made no difference. People parted like the queen coming through because she looked so fantastic,” the Vogue editor-in-chief, who plans and hand-picks every detail of the famed gala, said at the time, calling Cardi “chic” and “original.”
Wintour may have changed her tune after Cardi landed in hot water for a cocaine joke gone wrong while hosting the 2022 Met Gala afterparty — though the chain-draped Versace gown she wore on that year’s red carpet may have made up for any post-ball mishaps.
It’s fitting that Cardi would attend this year’s Karl Lagerfeld-focused fête; the Grammy winner is a noted collector of Chanel bags and has sat front-row at the fashion house’s runway shows in the past.
