Harry Potter stars who’ve welcomed children in real life, as Rupert Grint reveals name of his newborn

Harry Potter transformed many lives with the magic of its witch and wizarding world, and we got to know the likes of Harry, Ron and Hermione oh so well over the course of the eight movies.

And so when we are catapulted into real life and see the actors behind the characters living their every day lives and welcoming children into the world, it comes as quite the shock… especially when you’re scrolling through your Insta feed and see Ron, played by Rupert Grint, trying out his first Insta post!

A number of the cast have their own children now, which makes us feel really old, and so we’ve taken a look at who has welcomed a little one to the world…

Rupert Grint

Rupert Grint, who is famously known for portraying Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, recently joined social media platform Instagram and has shared his very first post.

The 32 year old, who has been dating Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging actress Georgia Groome for nine years, shared a photo of himself holding his baby daughter.

In the picture, the star can be seen wearing a plain black T-shirt with a khaki green cap on his head as he cradles his baby girl, who is dressed in a pink jumper.

In the caption, he decided to announce the name of his little girl as he wrote: "Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert".

His former co-star Tom Felton, 33, was quick to reply to the post as he immediately commented: "Welcome Weasley , it’s about time. Love to Wednesday xx". [sic]

Jessie Cave

Jessie Cave announced she’d given birth to her third child in October – a son – and revealed his sweet name.

The 33 year old, who portrayed the Ron Weasley-obsessed Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter movies, took to her Instagram feed to share the happy news with her 146,000 followers.

The star posted a sweet picture of herself sitting up on a hospital bed as she breastfed her newborn child. The snap shows the mum wearing a red headband with white polkadots on it as she cradles her little one in her arms.

Looking lovingly down at her baby boy, Jessie opened up about the "extreme" labour after revealing his name is Abraham 'Bam' Benjamin.

She wrote: "Abraham “Bam” Benjamin," followed by two red heart emojis. "Our baby boy was born in the early hours yesterday morning just 40 mins after my waters were broken.

"Slightly extreme but so were his kicks throughout the pregnancy!"

Jessie shares son Donnie, six, and four year old daughter Margot with comedian Alfie Brown.

Devon Murray

Devon Murray, 31, announced in July that he’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Shannon McCaffrey Quinn.

The star, best known for playing Seamus Finnigan in the film series, took to social media to share the happy news alongside a photograph of a babygrow and scan snap.


He wrote alongside the Instagram post: "Baby Murray – 14th of January 2021."

Fans of the Irish actor rushed to congratulate him on the news, with one writing: “Such happy news. Congratulations!”

His Harry Potter co-star Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood, wrote: "Awwww congratulations Dev!!

"So happy for you! you’re going to be such a fun dad!"

Scarlett Hefner

Harry Potter star Scarlett Hefner and her Playboy heir husband Cooper Hefner welcomed their first child together – a baby girl – in August.

Cooper, 28, announced the arrival of his and Scarlett’s daughter on Instagram as he shared gorgeous pictures of their bundle of joy swaddled in a blanket.

Cooper also shared images of Scarlett, 29, cradling her newborn in her hospital bed, while the new parents shared a loving kiss.

The businessman revealed that he and Scarlett, who is best known for playing Slytherin Pansy Parkinson in the Harry Potter series, named their baby girl, Betsy Rose.

New dad Cooper wrote: “At 5:23pm this afternoon Scarlett and I welcomed our daughter Betsy Rose Hefner into the world.

"We are overwhelmed with gratitude, love and joy."

Kendra Wilkinson, who once dated Cooper's late dad Hugh Hefner and appeared on The Girls of the Playboy Mansion, gushed over their new arrival as she wrote: "Congrats to you all. She’s beautiful. welcome to the world Betsy!!."
