LAURA WOODS has revealed ITV’s RECORD viewing figures for England’s World Cup quarter final victory – despite facing Premier League competition.
The Lionesses are now just one win away from reaching an historic first Women's World Cup final.
Sarina Wiegman's European champions secured their place in a third-consecutive World Cup semi-final with a nervy comeback win over Colombia on Saturday.
And now Woods, who has been stealing the headlines as host of ITV’s matchday coverage, has revealed the “monster” figure that tuned in to watch.
She wrote on Instagram: “England v Colombia on @ITV yesterday watched by 7.2 million, which is monster.
“A record number. Interest & support in the women’s game & the lionesses is at an all time high & only growing.”

The number of viewers is even more impressive considering that Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest, which was delayed due to ticketing issues, also kicked-off before England’s match had finished.
Now standing in the way of the Lionesses next is an inspired Australian side on Wednesday in the semis that will be roared on by their adoring nation.
The Matildas – will have virtually the entirety of the 80,000 fans inside the Sydney Olympic Stadium cheering on the tournament co-hosts.
And there will be another 26million across the country baying for the Lionesses' blood, with an electric atmosphere in Sydney in the raucous build-up to the biggest football match in the country's history.

Meanwhile, Woods was called “perfection” by fans as she rocked a striking outfit on the big screen yesterday.
The 36-year-old former talkSPORT host wore a pink number for her latest outing on the tele.
And her legion of fans were quick to hit Twitter to shower her with compliments, with one saying: “If you looked up perfection in the dictionary you would find a picture of Laura Woods.”
Woods returned to screens for the World Cup after a well-earned summer off.
The Arsenal fan made time to attend Glastonbury festival, Wimbledon and Ascot.
That was after she stepped down from her role as breakfast show presenter on TalkSPORT.
Woods is set to become a mainstay on fans' screens on Champions League nights as well as she moves to the re-branded TNT Sports.
