So much for the City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia rap star Meek Mill tried a novel approach to solving the gang violence problems in the city — and it earned him nothing but a barrage of hate, and even a “ban” from the northern part of the city.
On Sunday, Mill oddly dangled record contracts in return for peace. “I’ll get all the main big artist[s] in Philly a deal if they put them bodies behind them and squash them beefs,” he tweeted. “I hear about got some hot young bulls from my city but they all beefing.”
The fiery response from followers seemed to suggest that they didn’t think it was appropriate to entice people to forget about their dead friends in return for a payday.
Rapper Poundside Pop dissed Meek’s tweet plea, with one of his fans issuing a ban. “You not from North, bro. You’re banned,” said a Poundside Pop associate, according to Complex.
Mill seemed unimpressed, apparently responding, “We run the hood the f–k is you saying? lol.”
