Nectar Mattress Review: Get 5 Free Gifts Worth £385

WE SPEND almost a third of our lives in bed, so choosing the right mattress is crucial for our well-being.

With that in mind, we decided to put the Nectar mattress to the test to find out if it's as good as they claim.

Gone are the days when you could visit a shop to have a cheeky lie-down to figure out which is the most comfortable mattress for you. We're now reliant on online recommendations and expert reviews to make a purchase.

But it can be tricky: we often have different expectations and understandings of how firm/soft/supportive a mattress should be to offer the best possible rest.

To help you decide whether the Nectar mattress is right for you, we tested the Memory Foam mattress for ourselves over the course of a few months, which gave us a clear understanding of the quality of product Nectar Sleep offers.

Nectar Mattress Review: Summary

The Nectar Memory Foam Mattress was perfect for our needs from autumn thru winter. Billed as medium/firm, it solved the overheating-when-sleeping issue for us that you can get living in a humid city.

We didn't feel our partner moving during the night, and the mattress provided perfect support. You can be right at the edge of the mattress with no risk of the edge giving way and finding yourself flipped onto the floor.

  • Supportive
  • Comfortable
  • Excellent value, especially with the free gifts
  • 365-night trial
  • Climate-neutral

  • Slight odour when first out the box

Overall, we'd highly recommend the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress. The 365-night trial and the five free gifts make it extremely good value, and once we'd adapted to the firmness of the mattress, we found it to be comfortable, supportive and didn't want to get out of bed in the mornings.

Nectar Sleep offers a contact-free mattress delivery with free shipping and returns.

It arrived within a week of ordering in a sleek and colourful box, which made the purchasing experience even more exciting.

The mattress box is a bit heavy, so make sure you've got someone around to help you to carry the box to the bedroom.

You need to remove the packaging in the bedroom because once out of the box and plastic packaging, the mattress is difficult to move.

Each Nectar mattress comes with two complimentary pillows, fitted in the mattress itself, which I found to be a very thoughtful added touch.

You'll find a handy cutter tool for easy mattress release included in your packaging, and after unpacking the mattress, you'll need to leave the mattress to expand for several hours.

Nectar states that the mattress expansion depends on many factors: air pressure, humidity, and ventilation. So don't stress if it takes slightly longer for your mattress to reach its full size.

The mattress we tested (a double one), took around seven hours to expand completely, and there was a slight odour in the room, so we suggest ventilating the room well for a few days once your mattress is fresh out of the pack. A booklet with key information as well as a sleep journal is included in the delivery box.

The Nectar mattress is described as a medium-firm, and we found that to be accurate.

We'll admit, the first night of sleep left us wondering if we'd ever get used to medium firm; it's a bit of a culture shock if you're used to soft coil mattress.

But after a couple of nights we found we were sleeping sounder than ever.

The Nectar Memory Foam Mattress features an adaptive cooling cover and the smart memory foam technology responds to your body, dissipating heat and moisture and helping to regulate the temperature throughout your body.

All these features meant we were comfortably cool at night; no mean feat considering the bed was up against the radiator in the room we tested the mattress in.

We think the Nectar mattress is ideal if you're a side sleeper like us, as the mattress hugged our body comfortably leaving our spine nice and straight.

We also couldn't feel our partner moving when sleeping – which used to be a big problem – so as a result, both of us slept better and more deeply.

A few months into the test period, we couldn't imagine sleeping on anything different.

How much is the Nectar Mattress?

Nectar Mattress Review: The Verdict

The Nectar Mattress exceeded all our expectations and the bonus gifts (two pillows and a sleep journal) have set us up for a great start.

It took us a week or so to get used to the firmness, but we think our sleep has improved ever since.

It's soft yet firm enough to support the whole body when sleeping, and allows air flow which stops you overheating.

Overall, we really enjoyed testing out the mattress and the only minus was the slight odour in the room when it was fresh out of the packaging.

What is the Nectar Mattress made of?

The Nectar Mattress is made from three layers of foam: two layers of memory foam and a base layer of stabilizing foam.

The specially engineered viscoelastic foam supports all sleepers (front, back and side), with the base layer minimizing motion transfer to whoever shares the bed.

Each mattress has a polyester cooling cover to keep you cool during sleep.

How to clean the Nectar Mattress

It's important that you clean your mattress on regular basis in order to prolong its life.

Nectar's handy guide of how to clean your mattress can help you out when you need to remove stains or any spillage.

We suggest getting a mattress protector: it not only prevents stains but keeps bed bugs and dust mites away from your mattress.

If you have a spill, you should always clean your mattress straight away using baking soda or distilled white wine vinegar.

Is the Nectar Mattress cool?

Memory foam mattresses are often guilty of making you too hot because memory foam clings so close to your body.

However, thanks to the latest technology, the Nectar Mattress has an adaptive cooling cover, that can help you fight sleep overheating.

When we were testing out the mattress, it kept us cool during night, and that has greatly improved our sleep quality.

Other reviewers have also been raving about the quality of the Nectar mattress, saying 'From the first night sleeping on my new mattress it was amazing.  I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in months. So comfy I didn’t want to get out'.

Is the Nectar Mattress too soft?

On the scale from one to ten, starting from very soft to firm, the Nectar mattress rates at 6.5, meaning it's slightly more firm than the average memory foam mattress.

If you find a Nectar mattress to be too firm for your needs, you can simply return it as the brand has an excellent 365-day home trial.
