Why is Tiger Woods wearing FootJoy shoes instead of Nike?

HOLE-IN-ONE specialist Tiger Woods has made hundreds of millions of dollars from his Nike sponsorship deal – and he continues to do so.

The partnership between the golf mogul and the enormous sporting brand has lasted for more than 25 years.

However, eagle eyed fans spotted Woods practicing in a black pair of FootJoy shoes on the Augusta range followed by a white pair the next day.

But what is the reason for this and has his long-term collaboration with Nike ended?

While the company didn't go into technicalities, the statement implied that FootJoy are providing the golfing sensation with better support and mobility during his current recovery period.

Nike said: "Like golf fans around the world, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course.

"He is an incredible athlete and it is phenomenal to see him returning to the game at this level.

"His story continues to transcend sport and inspire us all. As he continues to return, we will work with him to meet his needs."

What has Tiger Woods said?

Golf fans were worried that Woods wouldn't be attending the Masters due to his injury.

But the American idol put any doubts to bed when he announced that he WILL be taking part in the major event.

However, questions were still being asked on his footwear options for the course where he was forced into explaining that the switch was for comfortability.

Tiger stated: "I have very limited mobility now.

"Just with the rods and plates and screws that are in my leg, I needed something different, something that allowed me to be more stable.

"Nike's been fantastic over the years of providing me with equipment and work and we have worked – we've been working and trying to find something to all me to do this and swing again.

"We're still going to continue doing it and hopefully we'll have something soon again."
