If you’re suffering from coronavirus anxiety or starting to go stir-crazy in self-isolation, it can be difficult to muster up any positive feelings.
The world is a bleak place at the moment, so it’s understandable.
Thankfully, an expert in happiness is here to teach people tips and tricks on how to regain joyful emotions amid the pandemic.
Dr Laurie Santos, who is a professor of psychology at Yale University in the US, will be hosting a 10-week course which starts today (20 April).
And the first reason you have to smile? It’s entirely free.
‘The Science of Well-Being’, as it’s called, takes around 19 hours to complete and will encourage participants to ‘engage in a series of challenged designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits’.
As a whole, the class will cover:
- Savouring (the moments, perhaps?)
At the start of the class, Dr Santos will reveal common misconceptions around the concept of happiness and how our mind works – and why it makes us ‘think the way we do’.
You will learn how to overcome your own bias, what you can do to improve your overall happiness, how to tailor your environment to positive emotions and commit to a four-week ‘rewirement’ challenge.
Over 46million people have browsed the course online, with 2.1million having signed up from all over the globe.
But don’t worry, there’s still time to join and it comes highly rated with 4.9 out of 5 stars.
If you’re feeling gloomy and want something to focus on that revolves around personal well-being, this could be a good option.
Or stick to baking banana bread, working out and Zoom raves – whatever works.
And if all else fails, look at photos of other people’s baking disasters – they are all but guaranteed to make you laugh, if even for a moment.
