Big Brother’s Kerry reveals she will quit NHS for new TV role after shock eviction

Big Brother star Kerry Riches has revealed she is hoping to land a big new daytime TV role on the back of her reality show fame, rather than go back to her NHS job.

Kerry, 40, became the fourth housemate to be evicted from the ITV reboot of Big Brother in a shock Halloween twist that saw her leave via the back door after a flash vote.

But despite her disappointment at leaving so early, the NHS manager is hoping to follow in the footsteps of successful former housemates including Josie Gibson, Alison Hammond and Kate Lawler by carving out a media career.

She said: "What I'd loved to be is a Loose Women, I love to chat. I love Janet Street Porter, I love Coleen Nolan, I love Nadia Sawalha, that would be lovely."

Kerry, who has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, has worked for the NHS for 21 years but says she "just needs a bit of time off".

She continued to The Sun: "I love the NHS, I've done it for 21 years, it's a long time and I've always said if doors open for this, then I'd gladly walk through them.

"I've been out such a short period of time, I'd love to do anything, I need a job, I've got a mortgage to pay."

Kerry is currently on a career break which was signed off before she landed a place in the Big Brother house as she felt she needed some time off from work.

She explained that being a manager in patient experience "took its toll" during the Covid pandemic and that she had "not given a lot of myself to me" because of work pressures.

However, she said that she would consider going back to work at the NHS because it holds such a special place in her heart.

Kerry's shock eviction was controversial for another reason, too – housemates usually go straight into their exit interview after leaving, but Kerry's eviction was recorded on Monday, 30 October and aired the next day on Tuesday.

Her eviction interview also took place on Tuesday, leaving viewers complaining that she had had 24 hours to prepare rather than giving her immediate reaction to her exit.

Four housemates are due to face the next public vote, with Dylan, Noky, Paul and Trish all up for eviction on Friday.
