ITV viewers tuned in this evening to see the latest round of performers take to the Britain’s Got Talent stage in the hopes of securing a spot in the BGT semi-finals later this year. A wide range of acts performed for judges Simon Cowell, 60, Amanda Holden, 49, Alesha Dixon, 41, and David Walliams, 48, tonight including a magician and an improv comedy troupe. However, it was 10-year-old singer Souparnika Nair who stole the show.

Souparnika aimed to wow the judges and BGT audience with her vocal talents and decided to sing a smash by Judy Garland.

As the young singer began to belt out the song, head judge Simon turned to Amanda and asked: “Can I stop it?”

Before long, Simon held his hand in the air and brought the performance to an abrupt halt.

Simon’s decision brought a huge gasp from the live audience before he explained he felt the song wasn’t quite right.

Instead, Simon asked if Souparnika could perform another her choices, particularly one from The Greatest Showman.

Clearly nervous, Souparnika agreed and prepared herself to sing a song different than originally planned.

However, before she could, dozens of fans at home were left less than pleased that Simon had interrupted the young singer.

Taking to Twitter, one fan vented: “SIMON WHAT ARE YOU DOING??????? How rude. #BGT.”

A second was similarly incensed: “Simon you can’t do that to a kid #BGT.”

Another viewer said: “Oh Simon!!! Boo!!! #BGT.”

While a fourth weighed in: “Why do I nearly cry every time Simon stops a song #BGT.”

Despite the surprise decision, Souparnika wasn’t deterred and took the microphone.

The 10-year-old blew the audience, judges and ITV viewers away.

Souparnika belted out Never Enough and received a standing ovation from the entire crowd.

She sailed through with four yes votes from the panel, leading to some viewers at home conceding Simon was right to stop her earlier in the performance.

One fan said: “Atta girl #BGT #BritainsGotTalent (Simon is always right lol!!)”
