EastEnders Ben devastated as he rushes to say goodbye to Lola

EastEnders: Jay serenades Lola at the seaside

In upcoming EastEnders scenes, Ben Mitchell’s (played by Max Bowden) refusal to accept reality continues.

Official spoilers for the BBC soap indicate his decision to run away from the situation could be one he might live to regret.

Ben has been left heartbroken by the news that Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) doesn’t have long left.

He wasn’t happy with Lola’s decision to leave hospital and come back home for her final days, arguing everybody had “given up” on her.

In scenes yet to air, Ben tries to escape the situation by fleeing the country – will he be able to say a final goodbye before Lola dies?

Meanwhile, Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and Lola’s heartbroken husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) are left furious by the news.

Ben decides not to contact anyone for days while he’s across the pond, and Kathy demands that police officer Callum uses his skills to track him down.

Ben’s family all worry increasingly about the consequences of Lola potentially dying while Ben is on the other side of the world.

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is frustrated that nobody can get through to his son and decides to head stateside to bring him back to Walford.

Kathy orders Callum to search the flat looking for clues of Ben’s whereabouts.

Later, Ben calls his husband but Callum doesn’t reveal Lola is very close to death because Ben is getting on a plane then and there.

Callum worries that Ben will never forgive himself if he’s not there when Lola dies.

Will he be able to make it back in time to be with Lola in her final moments? If not, it seems likely Ben could face a downward spiral as he tries to live with the regret.

EastEnders continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
