David Ames has joined cast of Hollyoaks as headteacher Carter Shepherd.
The actor will make his debut in upcoming scenes as the Hollyoaks High staff member gets ready to start his job when the summer holiday ends next month.
He already shares a link to one existing villager as he's the father of student Freya Calder (Ellie Henry) and widower of murdered Detective Inspector Lexi Calder (Natalie Anderson)

But it seems there's a lot more to Carter that is yet to be exposed, with secrets from his past set to come to light.
As Carter makes his first appearance in the village, Daily Star has taken a look inside the life of actor David.
The TV personality has recently celebrated his 40th birthday as he was born on August 10 1983.
He shot to fame as Dominic Copeland in BBC One medical drama Holby City.
David played the role from 2013 until the show was axed 2022.
At the time ,he revealed the cast were not aware the show was coming to an end before the announcement was made.
When asked by Lorraine Kelly if the cast got a "feeling" it was going to happen, the actor said: "We had absolutely no idea. Absolutely none.
"I remember I had a brief text chat with Russell T Davies about this, and he said, 'Normally you hear a little rumbling somewhere. Somebody will know something.'

"No one knew a thing. It was just one of those things."
In 2022, David starred as Steven in the play Steve, which was performed at the Seven Dials Playhouse.
He also appeared as Tim / Butterfly in Horse-Play at the Riverside Studios, London.
Earlier this year, David appeared in the Channel 5 drama The Madame Blanc Mysteries and also appeared in an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors as Marcus Bavidge.
As well as appearing on stage and in soaps, David played Nathan in the Doctor Who story Planet of the Dead, Thomas Percy in the Doctor Who adventure game The Gunpowder Plot, and Jack in the Bernice Summerfield audio series.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm followed by first-look episodes on E4 at 7pm or watch from midnight on All4
