Hollyoaks Edward’s downfall ‘exposed’ as he frames Tony for Diane’s attack

Time appears to be finally running out for evil doctor Edward Hutchinson in Hollyoaks.

The walls will start closing in on the villain in the coming weeks as Diane (Alex Fletcher) sees his true colours and Verity (Eva O'Hara) vows to destroy him, but he refuses to go down without a fight.

Edward plans to propose to Diane in upcoming scenes but she's boiling with jealousy after hearing that her estranged husband Tony (Nick Pickard) had slept with another woman.

However, when she confronts Tony, he questions why she's so bothered.

Diane maintains that she's in love with his father Edward, but Tony takes his chance to admit that he still loves her and wants her back.

Meanwhile, Verity is increasingly angry at her dad for everything he's done.

When he blames her for her mother's death, she swears revenge and wants to tell Diane everything.

Edward panics that his malicious secrets are about to come out and takes drastic action to silence someone he loves, framing Tony in the process.

Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) is pestering Kurt Benson (Jeremy Edwards) for an answer on when they're going to get some money back.

Kurt's eyes light up when he thinks he's got something over Edward and blackmails him for money.

A fed up Tony is betrayed once again by those closest to him and vows to start standing up for himself, starting with winning back Diane.

The Hollyoaks winter trailer finally dropped earlier this week and the teaser clip revealed there is plenty of drama ahead for the Hutchinson family.

One shocking moment from the trailer shows Edward viciously attacking Diane with a briefcase, after she declares that she'd rather die than marry him.

The evil surgeon later tells a horrified Tony that Diane is dead, causing him to collapse in shock.

Is Diane really gone, or is this another of Edward's manipulations? And what is Edward planning when he gives Tony a mince pie, branding it "to die for"?

Elsewhere, Walter Deveraux (Trevor. A Tousaaint) is rushed to hospital after collapsing. Martine (Kelly Bryan) needs the family's help, while Toby's (Bobby Gordon) anger puts Celeste (Andrea Ali) in harms way.

Grace is suspicious when Celeste lies about her injury and calls Felix (Richard Westwood) t get to the bottom of it.

There is showdown between Felix and Toby but how much does Felix know about his son's crimes?

Hollyoaks continues on Channel 4 on Monday at 6.30pm followed by a first look episode on E4
