JLo and ARod officially cancel wedding after 'struggling for weeks over the decision' as it won't happen ‘anytime soon’

JENNIFER Lopez has officially called off her wedding to Alex Rodriguez.

The star – who previously said she was going to "see what happens" – has told guests the late summer Italian dream wedding will not be happening.

The singer and former baseball star – who got engaged in March last year – had planned "the wedding of their dreams," which has been thwarted by the coronavirus pandemic.

"They have been struggling for weeks over this decision, but with no return to normalcy in the near future, the couple felt postponing the wedding was the safest and smartest choice," a source told E! News.

"Guests have recently been notified that the wedding will not be happening in late summer as anticipated."

According to the source, Jennifer and Alex planned to host their wedding in Italy and still hope to "have the wedding of their dreams" when the timing is right.

The insider told E! they are considering new dates, but don't see the ceremony taking place anytime "soon."

It comes after J-Lo told Ellen the wedding was in jeopardy, last month.

"Honestly, I really don't know what's going to happen now, as far as dates or anything like that," she said at the time.

"We're just kind of in a holding pattern like the rest of the world. It's something that we'll have to wait and see in a few months, how this all pan out."

JLo spoke to Ellen from the comfort of her Miami home as she continues to isolate with Alex, 44, his daughters Natasha, 15, and Ella, 11, and her children Emme and Max, both 12.

She told the host how she has traded pop superstardom for teaching, saying: "I help with the homework."

The couple got engaged in March 2019 during a romantic beach getaway.

The three-times married singer announced the news by posting a pic of her massive diamond sparkler on Instagram with a number of heart emojis.

Ex-New York Yankee Alex, whose nickname is A-Rod, also shared the sunset snap of the pair holding hands, simply writing: "She said yes."

He posted the definition of "Soulmate" by Bianca Sparacino on his Instagram story hours earlier to signal a big announcement may be on the way.

It reads: "A soulmate isn't someone who completes you. No, a soulmate is someone who inspires you to complete yourself.

"A soulmate is someone who loves you with so much conviction, and so much heart, that it is nearly impossible to doubt just how capable you are of becoming exactly who you have always wanted to be."

Jen was married to singer Marc Anthony, her third husband, for 10 years. The pair has two children together, twins Max and Emme.

J Lo also had an 11-month marriage to Cuban waiter Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, followed by a 16-month marriage to Chris Judd.

She has also dated the rapper Sean Combs, had a five-year relationship with dancer Casper Smart and was engaged to Ben Affleck.
