'LPBW': Jacob Roloff's Wife, Isabel Rock, Said Her First Year of Marriage Has Been Extremely Difficult

Little People, Big World fans know Jacob Roloff as the black sheep of the family. He stepped away from the show after condemning reality TV on Instagram. Now, he and his wife, Isabel, are roaming around in their van and recording their lives using social media for their fans.

Isabel is an open book, and she recently opened up to her followers about how her first year of marriage with Jacob’s been. Here’s what she said.

Jacob Roloff and Isabel Rock are currently living life on the road

Jacob’s made it known he’s much different than the rest of his family. He’s told his Instagram followers that he no longer wanted to take part in LPBW because the show turned his family into “caricatures.” And he’s also butted heads with his father, Matt, his sister-in-law, Audrey, and his brother, Jeremy.

It seems Jacob is much happier going off on his own with Isabel. The two are traveling in 1987 Westfalia camper van, and they had a goal of visiting 10 states and 10 national parks. They seem to have stopped in Bend, Oregon, for awhile, though, as Isabel noted she might have long-term plans to stay there.

As Isabel shared on her Instagram Story, “I love the rain. We have been here for a few weeks now and it’s been raining and storming, and let me just say, I’m more in love with this place than ever.”

While some fans don’t like Jacob and Isabel’s lifestyle, Amy Roloff’s made it known she’s a fan. “They’re back on the road, van life, and looking for a home for one day soon,” Amy shared on Instagram.

Isabel admitted her first year of marriage with Jacob hasn’t been easy

It would be disingenuous to pretend like this year has been easy for us. (Has this year been “easy” for anybody?) One of the most common phrases I heard from people before we got married was “the first year of marriage is the hardest”. I don’t know how true it is for everyone—but I guess it has been true for us. A lot of change, transitions, and growth has happened this year for our little family. Then add a global pandemic, the loss of family members, devastating wildfires in our home state. There’s been some stressful external factors as well, to say the least. No need to sugar coat it, there have been some rough seas; it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. But our love has only deepened from it all. I share this because it has become too easy to look at people’s lives online and compare yourself. What you don’t see here are the sometimes difficult conversations and challenging moments had between two people trying to figure things out, just like you are. So the next time you want to compare, remember that comparison is the thief of joy. And remember that it’s so much more important to just love your people hard, exactly where they are, than have your life appear a certain way. Focus on how your life feels to you rather than how it looks to anybody else. Everyone has their own journey here, and in the end, “we’re all just walking each other home.”

Isabel and Jacob seem like the perfect match. They’re both happy to travel in their van and step away from the reality TV spotlight. And they seem totally in love and excited to spend the rest of their lives together. But Isabel got ultra-candid on Instagram. On Sept. 21, she shared a photo of her wedding day to Instagram along with a caption detailing the difficulties of marriage.

“It would be disingenuous to pretend like this year has been easy for us,” Isabel wrote. “One of the most common phrases I heard from people before we got married was ‘the first year of marriage is the hardest.’ I don’t know how true it is for everyone — but I guess it has been true for us.”

Isabel then added that “stressful external factors” like the pandemic and wildfires haven’t helped, either. Despite it all, the love between her and Jacob has “only deepened” due to what they’ve been through together.

“So the next time you want to compare, remember that comparison is the thief of joy,” she added. “And remember that it’s so much more important to just love your people hard, exactly where they are, than have your life appear a certain way.”

Fans are sending their love

Isabel has a huge fan base, and it seems she has plenty of folks by her side given what she shared.

“Your wisdom and clarity at such a young age are truly inspiring and empowering,” a fan commented. “Thank you for expressing thoughts that so many of us need to soak in.”

“Your transparency is so COURAGEOUS!!!” another added. “It’s definitely admirable!!!”

“Appreciate your candidness,” yet another wrote. “You’re one of the most genuine and real people on social media I’ve ever come across.”

We hope Isabel will continue to share her experiences with her followers as she and Jacob move through life!
