Since the arrival of baby Esther in Emmerdale, Samson (Sam Hall) has remained adamant that he wants nothing to do with his child, much to the disappointment of Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick).

However, this hasn’t stopped the new grandparents from splashing out for the baby themselves, as a new spoiler video shows.

On a trip into Hotten, Lydia picked up some adorable clothes for Esther, which she proudly showed off to an amused Sam.

However, she was quick to hide the purchase when Samson came downstairs, claiming that the bag was a top she had bought that didn’t fit.

Once Samson had gone, Sam pointed out that she didn’t have to hide the truth from the teen, though Lydia admitted that she thought it was best not to remind him and cause another row.

The couple couldn’t wait to see Amelia’s (Daisy Campbell) reaction to the gift and enthused about their granddaughter wearing the new jacket and booties.

With Sam and Lydia treading on eggshells when it comes to Samson, will he ever be persuaded to change his mind about his daughter?
