Peter Andre astonished to learn Britain has sandy beaches on 'fantastic' Cornwall staycation

PETER Andre has admitted he was astonished to learn Britain has sandy beaches – despite living here for decades.

The 47-year-old singer took his family on a trip to Cornwall assuming he'd be sunbathing on uncomfortable stones.

Writing in his New magazine column he explained he is on a mini-break with Emily and their children near Newquay.

Peter said: "We've been to the seaside with the kids and I was shocked to find there are sandy beaches down here.

"I thought there were only pebble beaches in the UK, which is crazy as I've lived here half my life."

Pete added: "We've been on bike rides and doing lots of home cooking in our amazing villa.

"It's been a really fantastic staycation and the kids have loved it."

He is away with Amelia and Theo while his older children Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, are in Turkey with their mum Katie Price, 42.

Peter was born in North London in 1973 but went to live in Sydney, Australia, when he was six, later moving to the Gold Coast.

He returned to the UK in the mid-1990s when his music career was flying with the release of his hit single Mysterious Girl.
