Phillip Schofield defends ‘harsh’ This Morning remark after Holly calls him out

Phillip Schofield defended a "harsh" comment he made on Wednesday’s This Morning, during an installment of Spin to Win.

The premise of the jazzy game show is for contestants to answer their phone and deliver a password, granting the opportunity to give the glittering wheel a spin.

However, more often than not, contestants fail to answer the phone – leaving Phil and Holly Willoughby exasperated.

On Wednesday, Phil was left rolling his eyes when it happened twice in a row, doling out some tough love for contestants.

Turning to Holly, he asked for the name of the contestant who had failed to answer their phone.

When Holly revealed her name was Audrey, Phil exclaimed: "What's the point of entering if you’re not going to answer the phone?"

Holly made a noise, making it clear she didn’t approve of the snappy jibe.

Phil defended himself, saying: "Harsh, I know, but true."

Thankfully, on the next ring, contestant Derek successfully offered the password to the presenters, securing his win.

Delighted, Holly shouted: "Are you ready to win some money!"
