Comedian Jason Manford joked he felt “sorry” for the Saturday Kitchen crew as he tried a dish whipped up by cook Tom Brown this morning.
As ever, BBC host Matt Tebbutt was back alongside a range of guests and experts on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen.
Today, he welcomed popular comedian and actor Jason Manford into the studio alongside chefs Tom Brown and Sally Abe.
The programme’s wine expert Helen McGinn also joined via video link to offer up her knowledge of suggested wine pairings with today’s plates of food.
First up on the menu was Tom’s crab rarebit with pickled spring vegetables and it went down very well indeed with guest Jason.
But as the comedian was tucking into the dish, he admitted to Matt that he felt sorry for the crew having to watch them eat.
Host Matt didn’t waste any time asking Jason what he thought of the Tom had cooked up in the kitchen.
“Oh my goodness, it’s absolutely delicious,” Jason responded.
“Can you imagine this with brown crab meat as well?” probed Matt, “It would be amazing, wouldn’t it?”
Saturday Kitchen guests hit with 100 complaints and make show 'unbearable to watch'
Both Tom and Jason were in agreement before the former joked: “Imagine it being made properly? Lovely, really good that.”
Matt laughed at Tom’s quip before Jason dished out his sympathies to the show’s crew members.
The guest remarked as he tucked into his food: “I feel sorry for the crew, I do."
But the host quickly replied: “Don’t feel sorry for them!
“Don’t ever feel sorry for them,” Matt added as he waved his finger towards the crew behind the camera.
“It’s the only show I have ever been on where the crew have got knives and forks in their pockets,” Jason revealed.
“Yeah I know,” Matt added before appearing to point at a crew member and confirmed of Jason's observation: “Yeah, he has.”

Later on in the programme it was time for Jason to find out whether he had been granted his food heaven or food hell.
His food hell option was fritto misto with oyster and chervil mayonnaise.
But he was very much in luck on today’s instalment as he was able to enjoy tucking into his food heaven of butter chicken with onion, broccoli and spinach bhajis.
