Spoilers: Ben hears Callum after cochlear implant switch on in EastEnders

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is overwhelmed with joy in EastEnders, as he hears boyfriend Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway’ (Tony Clay) after the cochlear implant switch on.

Prior to the BBC One soap’s hiatus, Ben was eager to have the operation to have his cochlear implant fitted, but it was delayed due to him being unwell.

The soap returns on Monday (September 7), and it becomes apparent that he had the operation amid the hiatus, as the day of the switch-on arrives.

Meanwhile, Callum is tasked with analysing CCTV footage from a warehouse job, and he’s horrified to discover that Ben is the shadowy figure in said footage — leaving him in a difficult position.

Ben waits at the hospital — desperate for Callum to show, as he’d previously promised he wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Callum arrives in time for the switch on, and new footage — seen during tonight’s Secrets From The Square (September 4) — reveals that Ben can hear Callum, much to Phil’s (Steve McFadden) delight.

However, there’s more conflict ahead for Ballum — something which was also previewed in the teaser — as an angry Callum can be seen storming away from Ben.

Will the pair be able to get back on the same page?

Will Ben be able to be honest with his beau?

EastEnders returns Monday September 7 at 8.05pm on BBC One.
