KEVIN CLIFTON has had more marriages than I’ve had trips to pub beer gardens this year – but it is unlikely he will be adding another to the list.
His girlfriend Stacey Dooley — who he met on the most potent dating site in the world, Strictly Come Dancing — says she has no interest in tying the knot with Kev, who has been married three times.
In fact, Stacey says if they were ever to get married it would probably end up in divorce, something that the professional dancer knows a thing or two about.
She made the revelation on her W show, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, while talking to a family who are members of a growing community called Tradwives — women who have rejected careers in favour of becoming the archetypal traditional housewife.
Stacey joined Lillian and her husband Felipe, “the boss” of the household, as they celebrate ten years of marriage.
Stacey said: “Kev and I have been together for two years.
“I don’t think I want to get married.
I think I’d be more interested in starting a family than getting married.
“I can’t think of anything worse than being a Tradwife.
“I would be useless, completely and utterly useless. He’d divorce me in a heartbeat.
“Of course, I’m not going to become a Tradwife, I can’t think of anything I would least rather do than obeying a man.
“It makes you more vulnerable. I don’t want to find myself totally reliant on a man because that means if I’m not happy and I don’t feel fulfilled and complete, I might have to stick around.
“Whereas the life I’ve chosen, I can do as I please. I appreciate that probably sounds very selfish.”
The episode is not plain sailing for Stacey and the family, because Felipe insults her within minutes, having a dig at her hoop earrings and saying her “reputation” precedes her.
Stacey added: “It was really funny. Felipe was like, ‘Oh your gold hoops are exactly what I thought they would be’. God he hates the hoops. They are my USP, it’s my brand.”
Gareth praises his game
NOT content with trying to lift a nation’s spirits at the Euros, Gareth Southgate is now trying to sort out grassroots football too.
The England boss is launching a YouTube series called Raise Your Game with Gareth Southgate, to explore the work of inspirational youngsters in communities.
Gareth said: “I want to celebrate and shine a light on the work of so many young people across our country.
“The England team has a duty this summer to set an example by addressing inequality in a constructive way. But everyone involved in the game, at all levels, can play their part.”
Bring football home, Gareth, and I’ll do whatever you ask.
