SWAT season finale promo teases savage death of major character

S.W.A.T: Promo for Season 6 finale

Ahead of the season six SWAT finale, CBS has dropped an explosive promo teasing what fans can expect to see unfold when the episode airs on May 19.

The short promo gets off to a dramatic start with Hondo (played by Shemar Moore) realising his past may be coming back to haunt him.

As Hondo discusses the current mission with his team, which involves a ruthless cartel boss, he exclaims: “I’m the one who shot his son.”

As intense music plays in the background, the promo clip cuts to another dramatic scene where the team are closing in on their suspect, but before they can get close a set of explosions take them by surprise.

Later on in the clip, Dominique Luca (Kenny Johnson) can be seen sitting in a dark room being held at gunpoint, by what seems to be the Cartel boss.

But arguably most worrying of all is when Hondo falls into the range of a sniper’s scope, with a bullet firing from the weapon just moments later.

The trailer concludes with Hondo’s fears being confirmed as he believed the cartel boss wants to avenge him for killing his son, while also leaving fans in the dark when it came to whether Dominique survived.

The season finale has been separated into two parts, with the first instalment called, Get Shorty, which aired May 12, and the second showing will air May 19 and is called Legacy.

The season finale sees the team working alongside the DEA and their iron-jawed leader, Mack Boyle (Timothy Hutton).

Their mission is to stop a ruthless cartel boss waging war on the streets of Los Angeles as he enacts revenge on those who killed his son, in part two of the sixth season finale of SWAT.

During the penultimate episode of the hit CBS drama, the SWAT teamed up with the DEA to conduct a massive gang sweep.

However, the team only discovered that a vicious cartel was planting its roots in the city and endangering many lives, meaning the team had to jump into action quickly

Meanwhile, Hicks (Patrick St Esprit) reached a major milestone as he celebrated 40 years on the job but he remained adamant he didn’t want his team to plan a celebration, as he didn’t want to be reminded of everything he lost.

Although fans are nearing the end of season six, there is still something to be excited about.

The hit crime drama will be returning for a seventh season, but details surrounding the upcoming season have been kept under wraps.

It comes after CBS originally cancelled the popular drama but these plans were retracted when there was an uproar from fans and Hondo himself.

SWAT season 6 concludes on CBS in the US on Friday, May 19.
