The Duchess' Katherine Ryan reveals Netflix bosses made her cut outrageous bum flash scene outside Buckingham Palace

THE Duchess' Katherine Ryan has revealed Netflix bosses made her cut an outrageous bum flash scene outside Buckingham Palace.

The 37-year-old comedian will soon be seen on-screen in her first ever sitcom, which she wrote and produced.

Katherine plays a character also called Katherine, who is a single mum with a former boyband member ex who lives on a canal boat and a daughter who desperately wants her to have another baby.

The comedy features many outrageous moments whether it be a crude comment from Katherine or the sometimes outlandish ways she considers getting pregnant, but the comic has revealed not everything she wrote made it into the final cut.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Katherine recalled one particular scene she wasn't allowed to keep, saying: "There was a scene where my bum was out around Buckingham Palace and I’m not sure if that’s treason and that’s why that was cut out."

Elaborating on why the scene mattered to her, she said: "But to me, as a 37-year-old woman, I have dimples now and cellulite and nudity to me now carries a very different purpose and a very different message than nudity when I was 20 years old.

"Because I would have been objectified then or portrayed in a different sexualised way where as now if I see any women of my age naked with any imperfections I find it very empowering and body positive.

"I really wanted to get my bum out, this bum, not that [20 year old] bum, this bum, and that was unanimously vetoed.

"We did shoot it, they indulged me, they let me shoot it and then they were like ‘We’d like to lose the bum’.

"So it was collaborative and I didn’t always get my way and that was good for me. They let me be my authentic self, but with trousers on."

While Katherine wishes she could have kept that scene in, she also revealed the one scene she wishes she hadn't had to film.

The moment in question was a sex scene between her and on-screen boyfriend Evan (Steen Raskopoulos), and she said: "I stood behind the door and calculated how much money it would cost for me to run away.

"I thought ‘OK how many lighting technicians are here and how much do you think we spent hiring this set’ and I just calculated that it was too much so then I went in the room and did the sex scene."

The Duchess premieres on Netflix on Friday, September 11.
