The Good Doctor will return for season 7 on ABC

The Good Doctor: Season six finale teased in promo

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Good Doctor.

The Good Doctor season six has come to a close on ABC, ending with the birth of Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) and Lea Dillalo’s (Paige Spara) son.

It also saw the end of the journey for Daniel Perez (Brandon Larracuente) who returned home to Texas for drug recovery treatment.

With the latest series now done and dusted with, fans are eager to know what the future holds for the drama.

Will there be a season seven of The Good Doctor?

Thankfully, there is no need to be concerned about whether or not The Good Doctor is going to be back for more episodes.

The ABC medical drama was renewed for season seven last month so Shaun’s journey is not quite over yet.

So far, an official release date for season seven hasn’t been announced yet.

But going by previous return dates, The Good Doctor could be back for more in either September or October this year.

This should be confirmed very soon as last year, Deadline released the fall TV schedule in May.

It is thought that the majority of the main cast will be back for the upcoming episodes.

Of course, The Good Doctor wouldn’t be the same without actor Freddie Highmore in the leading role as Dr Shaun Murphy.

He will once again be joined by his wife Leah, played by Paige Spara, who welcomed their son Steve Aaron Murphy in the series six finale.

The official line-up hasn’t been announced but it is thought that Hill Harper will be back as Marcus Andrews, Christina Chang as Audrey Lim, Fiona Gubelmann as Morgan Reznick and Richard Schiff as Aaron Glassman.

In addition, Will Yun Lee should be back as Alex Park, Noah Galvin as Asher Wolke and Bria Samoné Henderson as Jordan Allen.

One face that won’t be returning is Brandon Larracuente as Daniel Perez who got into a car accident while treating a patient in an ambulance.

Jordan took it upon herself to give him the drugs he needed, despite his protests due to his previous addiction.

While Perez may have left to undergo further treatment, Deadline reported that he could conceivably return as a guest star in the future.”

The Good Doctor is available to watch on ABC.
