What was TikTok star Anthony Barajas' cause of death?

Anthony Barajas was shot in the eye at a movie theater shooting in Corona, California.

The influencer was on a first date with 18-year-old Rylee Goodrich at the time of the shooting.

She was fatally shot in the head and died at the scene.

Authorities say the shooting was unprovoked and they do not believe the alleged shooter knew the victims.

The shooting happened during a screening of The Forever Purge, the fifth film in the anthology.

In the movie, the plot is centered around all crimes being legal for 12 hours, including murder.

It is unclear to police if the film was a motivator for the shooting.

Corona police released a statement after Barajas’ passing, saying: "The Corona Police Department has been notified that Anthony Barajas passed away early this morning.

We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.”

A GoFundMe for Barajas raised over $74,000 to cover medical fees, surpassing its goal, after it was started by his family.

The fund's organizer, Julia Barajas, wrote: "Anthony was the light of so many peoples [sic] lives and there are tough times ahead, but we have amazing family and friends to get through this."

What happened to the suspect in the Corona movie theater shooting?

The suspect, who police believe to be Joseph Jimenez, was arrested.

According to TMZ, Jimenez was facing a murder count, an attempted murder count, and robbery.

Police say he stole Goodrich’s wallet after allegedly gunning her down.

Amid Barajas’ death, it is expected that the charges will be increased to include two counts of murder.

Police took Jimenez into custody while serving a search warrant at his presumed residence just outside of the Corona city limits.

During their raid, cops reportedly found a handgun of the same caliber as the weapon believed to have been used at the theater.

The shooting occurred one week after the ninth anniversary of the deadly Aurora cinema massacre.
