Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was easily one of the best animated feature films of the last decade. The movie took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and it managed to snag the Golden Globe for Best Animated Movie. In short, it was both a box office success and a critical triumph. Thus, if the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever chooses to opt for a live-action take, it will have some mighty big shoes to fill. Yet, which web-slingers would appear in such a movie?
The Multiverse of Madness could hint at the possibility for a Spider-Verse movie or lay the logical foundation necessary for one to come to fruition. If a Spidey enthusiast’s dreams come true, the following Spidey characters (and respective actors) would be most likely to make an appearance.
1. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker
It goes without saying that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker would be integral to a live-action Spider-Verse movie. Tom Holland is at the center of the MCU narrative saga. With Captain America and Tony Stark no longer in the franchise, he connects the old and new. He would presumably be necessary for relationship-building between other Spidey characters and the existing Avengers. Who could help other web-slingers build trust better than an already trusted web-slinger?

2. Andrew Garfield’s Spidey and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy
Other Peter Parkers from different timelines would inevitably appear in the MCU Spider-Verse movie. Meaning, some independent Sony figures could come into the soiree (if the dynamic between Sony and Disney remains positive).
Andrew Garfield’s Spidey and Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman could easily be worked into the equation, offering a parallel, yet juxtaposing purpose to the dynamic between Zendaya’s Michelle Jones and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. And, Gwen Stacy’s character arc — cemented with a strong and independent characterization in The Amazing Spider-Man series — could receive a glorious finish: a superhero identity.

3. Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunts’ Mary Jane
You can’t have a Spider-Verse movie with all the most memorable Spidey characters without Peter Parker and Mary Jane. While Michelle Jones pays homage to the original MJ, she is not the original comic book character. Hopefully, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunts would return for such a movie — to teach Tom Holland’s Parker some lessons about love and trouble (as was the case in the animated movie).

4. Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman
Jessica Drew has yet to appear under Disney’s umbrella as part of the MCU, yet she is one of the most prominent Spider-Women in the comics. She is the character most people think of when you say the name “Spider-Woman,” and her powers offer uniqueness to the typical web-slinging kin to the others.
Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman can discharge bio-electrical energy from the palms of her hands. She refers to the discharges as “venom blasts,” though they do not actually possess poisonous venom; rather, they work to render her opponents unconscious. In short, her presence is necessary for a Spider-Verse movie to feel complete. And, she could offer up some cool cinematography and special effects via powers other Spidey characters do not possess.
