Police release CCTV in hunt for man after 18-year-old woman was ‘sexually assaulted’ on a beach close to Boardmasters Festival

  • Man wanted after alleged sexual assault on Towan Beach, Newquay, on Sunday 

Police are hunting for a man after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on a beach near Boardmasters Festival.

Devon and Cornwall Police CCTV and images of the man wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assault on Towan Beach, Newquay, between 1.45am and 2.20am on Sunday.

A young woman is being supported by specialist officers.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it wanted to speak to the man, who may be able to assist with enquiries.

It’s understood he may have been attending the Boardmasters Festival and got a bus back to the site at around 2.30am.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Detectives investigating a report of serious sexual assault have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection to the incident. 

‘If you recognise him or have any information which may assist enquiries, please call police on 101 or report via our website quoting log 133 of August 13.’

A spokesperson for Boardmasters Festival said: ‘We are aware of information released by the police today regarding an incident which took place outside of the festival in Newquay. 

‘The matter is being dealt with by the police. They have shared with us their appeal for information which has been circulated to our key on site teams, who will remain vigilant.’
