Shad Gaspard’s family pay tribute to their ‘real life superhero’ after ex-WWE star died saving his son from a rip tide – The Sun

SHAD Gaspard’s family paid tribute to their "real life superhero" after the ex-WWE star died saving his son from a rip tide.

The tribute comes a day after Gaspard was found dead aged 39 washed up on a beach Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Siliana Gaspard, the former body builder's wife, wrote in an official family statement released Thursday: "Aryeh, myself and the Gaspard and Chittick families would like to take this time to thank everyone for their prayers and support, as we mourn the terrible loss of our beloved Shad.

"Shad was our whole world and we were his. There are not enough words to describe what he means to all of us. He was our heart, our soul, our protector, our warrior.

"He was a bright force of nature, who brought joy to many through his joyous and gracious nature."

Shad's body was discovered just days after the former WWE star disappeared while swimming with his son at Venice Beach in California.

And reports suggested he sacrificed himself to save his son by instructing lifeguards to rescue the ten-year-old before himself.

Siliana's tribute continued: "The outpouring of love from Shad’s friends, colleagues and fans has meant more to us than you can even imagine.

"We’d like to once again thank the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their efforts.

"Shad was and will always be our real life super hero."

The tragic discovery came after the wrestler's wife, Siliana Gaspard, pleaded for any helpful information on Monday night.

"Please don't flood me asking what happened," she wrote on Instagram Stories. "We want to know if he's been seen and where."

On Tuesday afternoon, the Coast Guard announced the search was suspended "after 16.5 hours of searching with multiple rescue assets covering 70 square nautical miles and seven search patterns."

"That surf that we have paired with a little bit of wind and good tidal swing today made rip currents a little bit more prevalent and a little bit stronger," Barnes said.

The former pro wrestler was spending Sunday at the beach with his son and wife.

Gaspard is most known for his work with partner JTG in the WWE tag team Cryme Time.

He was also a bodyguard to celebs like Britney Spears, Puff Daddy, and Mike Tyson.
