LITTER louts who left piles of rubbish on a Devon beach have been shamed in a hilarious post by a "worried" local.

Paul Trueman shared pictures of the shocking heap of litter discarded on Croyde Beach on Tuesday night.

He wrote: "Our local community is currently worried for the wellbeing and safety of a group of people who appeared to vanish from Croyde beach last night, leaving all of these belongings on the sand.

"It would mean a lot to us to be able to reunite them with all of it."

Among the belongings were chairs, clothes, a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes, beer bottles and bizarrely, a photo.

While making a serious point about the rubbish left behind by tourists he poked fun at their choice of alcohol.

He wrote: "Concerns for the group's emotional wellbeing were first raised by their consumption of Desperadoes. Medical experts have confirmed that no adult in their right mind would choose to drink it, and local police are calling their choice 'a cry for help'.

"We know how worried they must be right now about their lost possessions.

"At the very least we’d love to contact them to let them know that every single one of their chairs, tee-shirts, mugs, bottles, cans, spades, shoes and more have been safely found."

Paul detailed how a local had to make seven trips to and from the beach to clear up all the mess, but reassured the worried owner "we'll keep it safe until they can come and reclaim it".

His amusing Facebook post has been shared hundreds of times, with people applauding his message.

Croyde Beach has also seen more than 200 broken plastic bodyboards dumped on the sand.

Around 216 were found in 26 days of collecting by the Ocean Recovery Project.

It comes after lockdown was lifted, the weather improved and Brits started staycationing again, leaving piles of rubbish, bottles of urine and used BBQs.

Papers, beer cans and disposable barbecues were among the items left behind by visitors across several parts of the resort.

The images were shared online by the RNLI East of England, which pleaded with people to take their rubbish home.

Yesterday we told how six skip-loads of rubbish was allegedly dumped on Cliff Hamilton's property in Hounslow, West London.

He went to the property on Friday and together with a group of friends and builders tossed the items over the wall onto his neighbour's land.

But Mr Hamilton's neighbour Gurvinder Singh Luthra, 68, has hit back, claiming he is innocent and that he will sue.
